Hello creative friends,
Last week I shared a peek at my craft room all decorated for a shabby, white Christmas.
Thank you all so much for the lovely emails and comments… I do always appreciate your feedback.
Like me, you loved how sparkly and pretty the craft room is this year.
This garland absolutely glistens in the sunlight streaming through the French doors and garnered a lot of attention on social media this week.
I’m so glad you loved it too…. it’s not too bad for a 20 year old garland.
If you didn’t see the tour, you can pop over HERE to see it.
As promised, today I’m swinging the camera around to show how different the back wall of the craft room is.
It’s a corner of RED…
[gasp] I know that is quite shocking in my pastel craft room… and something I never normally do!
With all of the twinkling lights and glittery baubles in the rest of the room looking all flirty and ready to party, I figured I could go a little understated in the back corner…. so it’s all party in the front and business in the back!
I didn’t even hang lights back there, preferring to just use a set of faux IKEA candles and a candle lantern.
I’ve always feature a few red Christmas projects on the blog for those who are more traditional, so I do have a small collection of ‘non shabby’ Christmas items.
Although most of the decorating in my home for Christmas is always shabby, white and aqua, I add a few gingerbreads and a pop of red in the kitchen and my hubby has a traditional red and gold tree in his ‘man cave’ TV room. Honestly, that man is a saint living with a household of shabby loving girls, so I try to make his ‘man cave’ very manly!
Christmas is the only time though that red ever creeps into my décor.
So this year I decided to make a small area for my red pretties to hang out…..
A Tilda skating angel doll…. a foxy lady in a red felt coat… and several sugared ginger dolls.
Of course there are the mischievous Christmas pixies too…. (free pattern here)
And several gingerbread projects from the recent Handmade Club kit.
Did you notice the other fabulous item in the ‘business end’… yep, it’s a coffee station.
I do take my lattes very seriously, so it’s been a fun addition to my ‘happy place’ for this festive season.
I’ve swapped over my pink and aqua GreenGate ceramics for my red collection that’s usually stored in a kitchen dresser.
It’s so nice to have it out and be able to use it for Christmas.
So that’s the sneaky and unexpected back wall of my craft room.
But rest assured… as soon as Christmas is over, the red will be gone and my shabby pretties will be back!
Were you surprised to see the red and aqua Christmas?
I actually quite enjoyed it, so you might even see it again another year.
