Shabbilicious Sunday with Town and Country Living

Welcome to Shabbilicious Sunday….

Each week in this series I share with you a visit to a home of one of our ‘shabbilicious’ friends. What could be better than to take a tour around their home, have a chat and get to know a little more about them.

Today we are heading to Illinois (just outside of Chicago), United States to visit Jennifer of Town and Country Living.

 

 

 

Jennifer lives in a gorgeous Victorian cottage (circa 1875), where the suburbs meet the country and she can enjoy the best of both worlds.

Jennifer describes her decorating style as farmhouse meets shabby…

And I know you’ll love her enviable style.

 

 

Jennifer’s cottage kitchen is true to the farmhouse style and is her favourite room in her house.

 

 

She loves to cook and you’ll find a catalogue of amazing recipes on her blog HERE. 

 

 

 

 

Jennifer went for a light and airy look in her farmhouse family room.

Being the most used room in the house, it needed to be casual and comfy. Jennifer certainly achieved that look with her blue and white colour palette and layers of pretty quilts and plump pillows.

 

 

 

 

Jennifer is lucky enough to have claw foot baths in both her upstairs and downstairs bathrooms.

 

I asked Jennifer what is her best decorating advice…

“I like rooms that easily flow into each other. When looking from one room into another, you see an aesthetic blending even though there might be a mix of styles. 

To create an appealing flow, keep basic elements unified so there’s no jarring effect. For example, use the same flooring throughout most of your home (like hardwood floors) but add interest with colourful rugs. If you don’t have the budget for new flooring to achieve this look, you can create the feeling by painting rooms the same colour or similar hues of a colour.

You can also repeat elements from room to room, such as including a wooden or painted piece of furniture in each room, or decorating each room with a plant or two. Any element that ties one room to the next will help unify your living spaces and create a cohesive, pulled-together look”.

 

 

I love the way Jennifer has dressed her front porch ready for fall.
