Welcome to Shabbilicious Sunday….
Each week in this series I share with you a visit to a home of one of our ‘shabbilicious’ friends. What could be better than to take a tour around their home, have a chat and get to know a little more about them.
Today we are heading to Germany to meet Yvonne of Villa Koenig. Originally from Cologne, Yvonne has lived in the countryside there since she was a young girl.
When I asked Yvonne how she would describe her decorating style, she said “I love to mix old and new things. Most of our furniture is white and it gives our home a light and breezy look. I change the colours of pillows, blankets etc. every season. And there are always flowers…. I can’t live without flowers”.
Having followed Yvonne’s journey for many years, I personally love seeing how she changes the vignettes in her home with each new season.
As we move through her home, you’ll see how white furniture provides the neutral canvas in all of Yvonne’s rooms and just the accessories change colour and style; from coastal seahorses and starfish in summer to the gorgeous plum pot of berries and hydrangeas in fall.
Asked if she had a favourite piece of furniture, Yvonne said “I really like some of our old furniture, which I have from my grandfather, like the bedside table. Right now my favourite piece of furniture is my homemade shelf in the living room, which I enjoy decorating. I also like the homemade ladder which is hanging over the dinning table”.
Yvonne offered this advice on decorating your home…. Don’t look too much to trends. Do whatever you like, because it is your home and you need to feel comfortable in it. Find your own style and decorate your home in that way.
Yvonne shares her 3 passions on her blog Villa Koenig… decorating, baking and photography. There are lots of lovely recipes too. Although her blog is written in German, I just use the Google translate app for Chrome to translate the pages to English.
Yvonne even has a published book (in German) – read more about it HERE.
You can visit Yvonne at her blog Villa Koenig… please pop over and browse through her many beautiful posts. There is a navigation bar at the top with links to specific topics.
You can also connect with Yvonne on Instagram and Facebook.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us Yvonne!

I love the coziness and homey feeling of her home. I love how she has used flowers throughout. I especially love the ladder over the table with the little buckets of hydrangeas hanging from it. I just adore the cabinet with linens and blankets. She has just an adorable place and has done a fabulous job decorating. Thank you for sharing.

I too loved Yvonne’s home, so cozy and welcoming. Can tell she loves her home, keeping it comfy and well styled. Could have browsed on her blog forever, so many incredible things to see, borrow ideas. So appreciate you showing us her home. Seems like women are same all over the world, love to fix up our homes as best we can. Some people have more talent at snazzying up their homes than others. Seeing Yvonnes’ lovely home makes me glad I got on my machine after all tonight.
Been having so much trouble with internet have gotten tired of having to mess with it every time. Grand Junction has a big problem with internet power but won’t do a blasted thing to fix it., people complain all the time. Since we’re out few miles our internet service is worse than people who live in valley, we’re about 18 miles west of Grand Junction. Our internet service is on satellite but still have problem with getting on and then staying on. Of course we’re still charged for high speed but can’t get it .Have spent way more time than should have to calling internet service, then can’t understand the people on other end. Since I have hearing loss it’s quite difficult for me. We have two choices out here and neither one is worth plug nickel. Sorry for rant, gets to me month after month, year after year.
Hope you had great lovely weekend.

A lot of lovely things to look at in Yvonne’s home. I especially like the cupboard with the long glass door. And the way she decorates with flowers. The amount of white she uses is a little much for my taste, but it does provide a nice background for her decor items. I enjoyed the post and will definitely look at her blog.
