Do you celebrate Halloween?
In years gone by, it was never really celebrated here in Australia. At long last it has gathered some momentum and retail seems to be embracing it this year.
I think I’ll like ‘spookalicious’ decorating!
This is a little something that came out of my craftroom this week…
It’s really simple and used a few items I already had on hand; a wine bottle, a white candle and a some vintage paper supplies.
Did you see my post this week about how I make new items look vintage?
To make this Halloween themed candle holder, I simply painted the wine bottle with two smooth coats of black Gesso. Gesso is a primer and adheres straight to the glass, but you will need two coats.
Gesso also acts as a chalkboard, so you can write on it with chalk.
The candle fitted snuggly in the bottle opening.
The Halloween tag was made from a few of the items I dyed with coffee earlier this week, plus a vintage printable. If you like it, you can download it for your own use by clicking on it to open at full size, then right click and save to your own computer.
I printed this out on matt photo paper, then cut out with sharp pointy scissors.
To make this mixed media tag I employed a few different techniques; a stamped background, ripped book paper, tissue paper, fabric and a coffee stained doily.
I made a little ‘boo’ garland with book paper and alphabet stamps too.
I think this little paper doll dressed for Halloween is so sweet!
If you are new here, you may not have seen the Halloween candle holder I made last year.
I’ll be putting it our again this year… and now that I’ve been bitten by the Halloween bug, I wonder what else I can make between now and Halloween.
