In celebration of the Queen’s birthday we have a 3 day weekend here in Australia. Today also just happens to be Miss Aimee’s 15th birthday, so we started the holiday weekend with a birthday party on Friday night.
Haven’t my girls grown up!!
The days leading up to the event were full of preparations, baking and cleaning. . . but strangely enough, post party has also been all about cleaning up!
I kind of got into the zone and decided to continue on my cleanliness quest in the studio too. Most Monday’s I do a tidy up ready for the work week anyway, but the busyness of the past few weeks has caused a messier than usual work area. I need to do a major cull, get better organised and rearrange the storage areas. What better time than a 3-day weekend to tackle such a big job.
I don’t mind admitting that I’m a bit of a neat freak, so I get a buzz out of a major clean up like this. I spent yesterday sorting, stacking, unpacking and re-packing, moving, culling, shuffling and ’foofing’!! Yes. . . I like a bit of ‘foofing’ too. As well as functionality, I also I need my workroom to be pretty and inspiring. Mostly my studio space is very organised. . . with every item having a specific place to be stored, so I can access it quickly when required. The down side of working in so many mediums is having such a vast array of goodies to store.
It really doesn’t matter whether you create as a hobby or for business, everyone needs to have an inspiring and organised work space. Over the years I have collected lots of storage and craft room ideas and I thought today I’d share a few good ones with you. . .
Like these beautiful frames hanging from a curtain rod. . . they are both pretty and functional with pockets to store paper items.
Ever wondered how to store those bulky paper punches?
How perfect is this shoe bag, complete with pretty little tags. Great space saver!!
How about wall mounted tin can storage in a coordinating colour scheme for storing all those itty bitty items.
Shower caddy one day. . . craft storage unit the next!
If you are inspired by colour then keep it on display. . .
Or box it all neatly and label for easy reference.
Most importantly, your craft space should be organised, tidy and reflect your style.
Now that my studio has been re-organised I feel totally invigorated and inspired.
Today I’m devoting my time to planning my creative events for the second half of the year and setting up my blogging schedule in my Creative Planner. I’m moving into a new design phase now. . . having already begun on the 2012 Christmas Collection and spring/summer pattern designs, so there’s lots of things to start preparing. Perhaps then tomorrow I can actually CREATE something!!

Great inspiration pictures, Kerryanne! I love that shower caddy idea. I’ve been reorganizing in my craft/sewing room, too. I’ve got Etsy stuff taking over ~ I may have to have a big sale just to clear some stuff out! After reading your last post, I took a little blank journal and decided to make it my creative journal to write down projects I want to do. This way I don’t have to leave supplies out to remind me to make those projects. I can just pull them out when I see the reminder in the journal and am ready to actually begin. So, thank you for that idea. : )

Very pretty storage ideas there!

You are truly an inspiration! Your work space is beautiful, and I love your advice that one’s creative space should reflect one’s style. Birthday cheer to your daughter and the queen!
