Handmade Cards with Vintage Graphics

Hello friends,

Thank you for all the lovely comments and emails about the vintage graphics and tutorial for making the lavender bags last week. I’m thrilled that so many people enjoyed them.

I’ve been working on restocking my greeting and gift card box this week and used some of the vintage graphics from those printables to make these cards.

 

The pink birds nest was one of my favourites from the Newsletter Subscribers freebie graphic and I think it looks really sweet on this pastel vintage card.

The card is quite basic with some printed vintage ephemera used as a background.

I free motioned stitched around the background and the bird graphic, as well as adding a little brown chalk to the edges of the paper to give them that subtle aged look.

Next came some pale pink seam binding and a vintage book paper flower bow…. these are super easy to make by-the-way. Perhaps I should share a tutorial for making those in my next post!

After the pastel bird card I used one of the vintage flower girl graphics from the free printable I shared HERE.

Once again, I layered pretty papers as a background to my vintage graphic and added stitching around the flower girl card.

I really like the pretty pastel aqua and pink colour palette on this card.

I used my tag punch to make a paper tag and stamped ‘happy birthday’ on it in gold ink.

Obviously this is a 3D card that won’t fit in an envelope, but it will look gorgeous attached to a gift.

I made a quick seared edge silk flower… there’s a handy tutorial post HERE.

This card was very free hand and simple. I randomly cut the shapes for the silk flower and hand ripped green scrapbook paper into leaf shapes.

A few fill in punched flowers and buttons finished it off nicely.

I didn’t have a plan when I started making these cards… it was totally winged and seriously, isn’t that the best kind of crafting!!

I love when I can select a bunch of crafting supplies and just mix and match, cut and glue and play around with it until I have a finished item.
