Today I am not going to rave about what I am currently creating or planning on doing – rather I am going to share an inspirational tale of two lovely ladies who are following their crafting dreams – ‘A shop of ones own’.
This is the story of Linda and Laura of Lilly Cottage – who by the way hate their photo being taken so I have had to be very creative to show you their photos.
Lilly Cottage is a quaint little cottage store situated at ‘Old Petrie Town’, Kurwongbah, 35 kms north of Brisbane. Linda and Laura have had the shop for 18 months but their crafting journey started long before that. Both ladies have been selling their wares for many years at local markets and then through rented space at another store before embarking on this business venture together.
Linda & Laura manage the juggling act of raising a family and running a business with the help of their mums. Together these 4 women produce 60% of the beautiful wares sold at Lilly Cottage. They are so multi talented that they produce wares that are painted, sewn, embroidered, beaded, embellished, knitted, crocheted, collage, jewellery and pretty much anything they put their mind to. If that doesn’t keep this duo busy enough they also hold special events, tea parties and bubbly breakfasts – ooh I like the sound of that one!!!!.
Linda said “We are living our dream – we both took a very long, windy and bumpy road to get here, but we arrived and now have unpacked our luggage and we aren’t packing up again anytime soon, like ever”.
These ladies have dared to follow their crafting dream and couldn’t be happier. There is so much more I could tell you about this pair of very talented artisans but I will save that for another day. I hope like me, you are inspired by their story. If ever you are up their way remember to pop in and visit them at Lilly cottage. For everyone else we will have to be content with visiting their blog and eBay store:

Hi Kerryanne – Lovely post on my favourite store!!! Linda is passing down her knowledge to me bit by bit and I feel like she is my grasshopper! Unfortunately Linda won’t be able to see this fantastic post as she has landed herself in hospital again :(. Let’s wish her all the very best to get on her feet again soon.
Thank you again

Hi Kerryanne, what a lovely little store. How fantastic to be able to follow your dreams… ‘mmmm one day’ very inspirational post and I’m sure it will give someone that extra little push to just go for it.
Thanks so much…
PS. I copied your widget I hope you don’t mind I need all the remindng I can get, it’s coming tooooo fast.
Hi Kerryanne, Wow, I am so flattered at the great write-up you gave Linda and myself. You’re so sweet and one of the nicest people we’ve come accross through our blog. Things have been crazy around here, so I am a bit late in leaving a comment. Linda is not well at the moment, but I’m sure she will be absolutely thrilled when she gets a chance to read it. Linda and I ARE living our absolute dream, and we seem to ‘get’ each other when it comes to our passion and what we do. You did a great job with the very limited photos to choose from of us. I absolutely hate getting photos taken, mainly because I am not photogenic (think that’s how you spell it). Once again, thanks so much, and we are inspired by you. Your talent is to die for.
Mwa, Laura and Linda.
Thanks Laura and Linda for being such an inspiration to us all. I can think of no greater thrill than being able to share the journey with a friend – double the pleasure!!
Hope Linda is feeling better soon and back creating her beautiful artworks.
Hugs,
Kerryanne
