In the Shabby Cottage Garden kit this month, (May in the Handmade Club) I’ve included several project printables for quick and easy crafting.
This sweet Shabby Cottage Garden Flip Tag project of gorgeous 3 dimensional flip tags is one of those prepared projects.
It’s an instructional PDF printable that contains all of the elements required to create 12 beautiful, 3 dimensional tags.
The tags vary in size with the largest tag measuring 12 cm x 9 cm (4 3/4” X 3 1/2”).
I’ve printed my tags on matte photo paper that is card thickness… in Australia that is 250 gms or 92LB cover paper in USA.
I always set my printer to it’s highest quality setting when printing digital graphics to achieve the best print results.
The 12 tags are contained on 4 pages, plus there are 4 backing pages, so the tags can be double sided.
Most of the tags have extra elements to be added for a 3 dimensional effect and they too are included in the print out.
After cutting out all of my tags, I distressed the edges with a nail file to create a shabby, white and worn look.
Some people prefer an antiqued edge made with brown ink around the edges, or maybe you prefer nothing… this is simply a personal choice.
My tags were constructed using white glue and 3 mm foam tape to build up the layers.
You can of course use items like cardboard, chipboard, foam tape, foam sheets or foam dots to create depth.
It’s fun to add in other embellishments too…. like natural fibres, sequins, glitter etc.
You are only limited by your own imagination… and trust me, these tags were so much fun to make!
There are additional blank journal tags in the printable that can be mounted on the back of the tags, if you’d like to use the flip book as a journal.
Once all of the tags are constructed, simply punch a hole in the top and thread onto a binder ring to make your flip tag book.
Next you can add pretty ribbons and adornments to the ring to decorate.
This shabby flip tag project is included in the May kit for the Handmade Club.

Oh how I love this month’s download. I joined the club just so I could have these stunning tags and embellishments, paper, etc. I love it all! I’m going to make the tap flip book for my sister’s birthday coming up in June. She loves flowers and gardens, etc. and I think this will be just perfect. I’ve used some of your other printables over the years for gifting to her! she loves sewing and quilting so last year I printed (purchased) one of your sewing/craftroom printables and framed it for her birthday. Thank you for all of the wonderful creations you do! Marilyn
