There’s been very little time for crafting this past few weeks, so several unfinished projects lay abandoned in my craft room… and it’s a tad untidy in there I can tell you.
I wandered in there tonight to get a pair of scissors and felt the urge to linger for a bit… take in my pretties… and perhaps attempt a bit of a tidy up.
It started well, but craft room clean ups are always fraught with temptation.
On top of the wardrobe I discovered a cotton bag filled with dried roses. My first impulse was to throw the brown withered buds out… but then that quiet inner voice whispered to me ‘surely something could be made with the roses’.
There was still a hint of pink and burgundy, so they weren’t completely brown.
In the same bag I found smaller rose buds, dried rose leaves and white hydrangea.
There’s enough there to make several different projects, but tonight I settled on a small dried rose wreath.
With all thoughts of a craft room clean up gone, I set about gathering supplies for a quick DIY.
All I needed was some wire, wire cutters, hot glue, scissors and a handful of dried roses, leaves and hydrangeas.
To make a small wire ring, I wrapped the wire around a large glass coffee jar. To secure the ends, I simply twisted them together and squeezed them tight with the wire cutters.
Using a low temp hot glue gun, I glued the roses to the ring. I left a small gap at the bottom to tie on some silk ribbon.
Next I added in the fillers… sprigs of hydrangea and dried leaves.
The colours are muted and perfect for my white on white room and our change of season that will soon be upon us.
Autumn is incredibly mild where I live and we don’t get the change of leaf colours that colder climates get, but I still like to add small changes to my vignettes to reflect the season.
I think my dried withered rose wreath will fit in nicely.
Note: unfortunately, night photography doesn’t capture the true beauty of these blooms, but I’m sure you will see them again in my Easter vignettes.
I thoroughly enjoyed this quick and easy project and appreciated even a small window of creative time. Sometimes you just have to grab what you can!!
I’m heading off to the city again in a day or two, so crafting time will just have to wait… as will my unfinished Easter projects. Maybe I should aim to have them finished for next year [sigh].

I have a few things to clean up in the studio also, I was just wondering where my pile of dried roses are? someplace tucked away in the studio I just couldn’t throw them out either.
I think mine would crumble before I could get therm hot glued to a wire.
Your sweet little rose wreath would fit in any decor

I love how you can just throw something together on a whim 🙂 and fill our hearts with shabby glee at the same time. A pleasant distraction from your intended clean up and so, so gorgeous. May your days be filled with distractions! xo

Oh boy do I ever know how that is wandering into studio for just a minute. Am a very spontaneous crafter and very often projects undertaken under that situation turn out best. Am not a planner, when I plan nothing works at anytime.
Your wreath is gorgeous, roses in perfect condition to use. Ii was wondering how it would look if you fastened it onto that oval frame with text in it, would be different look, maybe pretty.
Tonight after struggling with new laptop with windows 10 was finally able to find my emails. has been at least 3weeks or more since was on. was waiting for new laptop then struggling to figure out how to use blasted thing. Eureka tonight was finally successful, have no idea why but sure am happy.
Your wreath is so perfect KerryAnne, do love it. Happy rest of week .
