Simply put, I’ve had
‘one of those weeks’.
You know the kind that flies by in a blink of an eyelid and you are left wondering what the heck happened this week. Who knew when I posted on Monday that my week was about to change direction so dramatically – well, clearly not me because I am the one sitting here bemused!!
Are they not truly scrumptuous? They are about the size of a saucer which is much bigger than normal coasters… love ’em, love ’em, love ’em!!!
Monday turned a bit pear shaped when Miss Aimee came down with a gastro bug of sorts and a migraine headache. Luckily, she only had abdominal cramping and none of the other fun stuff that usually accompanies gastro bugs. I had her home for the whole week and she has really only sparked up again today. Sooooo, having a sick child home means you can’t do all the things you had planned on so there was the first hurdle for the week.
Tuesday seemed to dawn brightly when the postie made an early morning parcel drop off. Yay… it was from Fishpond – an online book store. Yes I know I said I wouldn’t be buying any more books while the dollar is low but this was different. The lovely ‘Lilly’ Linda from Lilly Cottage sent me a gift voucher. Ppppsstttt… I suspect she spent a bucket load at Fishpond books and they allowed her to forward a gift voucher to a friend, but we won’t tell anyone.
Anyway, this is what I chose –
Romantic Home Sewing by Christina Strutt.
This beautiful book certainly brightened my day. It is filled with gorgeous retro floral print projects to make for the home, for gifts and even some lovely clothes and accessories. I think I have now added another dozen projects to my ‘To Do List’. When I showed hubby he feigned interest and simply said “Don’t you already have a sewing book”. OMG, what planet does he hail from – like I could survive with only one sewing book. I decided that perhaps it wasn’t the right time to point out all the other books in my sewing box – he already struggles with the concept of keeping several bookcases of craft magazines.
So onto Wednesday. This was a special day… apart from being April Fools day it was also my wedding anniversary (19 years) as well as my dad’s 70th birthday. Here is the birthday boy with my mum draped over him.
Okay, that one was a bit blurry as I had the camera on the wrong setting but I had rectified the problem by the time we had the birthday cake.
Here’s my dad with all 5 grand kids. We had a lovely day with lunch at a restaurant and birthday cake with the kids after school.
Feeling totally exhausted that nights after a busy day, I slipped into bed and off to sleep quite early only to be woken by the phone. In the understatement of the year, my mum told me that dad was feeling a bit unwell. Uhum… unwell actually translated to admission to hospital with a suspected heart attack. My parents don’t live locally so I dashed off in the middle of the night to pick up my mum and follow my dad who was transferred to another hospital at 1am in the morning.
Isn’t it amazing how our bodies just get that adrenaline surge and are able to cope with these situations. After a sleepless and traumatic night for all of us, my dad was discharged the following day, pain free and feeling fine. He has since had more tests and we are waiting to hear what this mystery chest pain was. Honestly, the things people do for attention…LOL.
Sleep deprived and exhausted I some how made it home on Thursday to find that hubby had managed to get ‘The Princess’ to her orthodontist appointment to get her braces off and was battling with a sick Miss Aimee. It was back off to the doctors for her and then into bed for me. I don’t really recall much about Thursday. After 4 months in bed, I’m not use to sooo much excitement. I had lots planned for Friday but on the day, just couldn’t get motivated. In a very self indulgent move, I gave myself the day off. I actually lay in bed and watched the storms sweep through Melbourne and slept and slept and did nothing.
So that was the week that was. Totally screwed up, not what I expected and the health scare with my dad gave my own heart a great big jolt. Needless to say, no crafting was completed this week – there’s always next week. I’m sure this week will be a pleasure for all of us. Tomorrow my nephew Samuel is being Christened and hubby and I are godparents. We have a big family celebration planned and I am grateful that we will all be there together.
Hugs ~ Kerryanne
Hey Kerryanne! Wow! You HAVE had a mixed week!! Lets see… love your coasters & the book!! Glad you had a fab time with your family. Happy Anniversary to you and your beloved and happy birthday to your attention-seeking Dad! :0) I know how that scare goes – 3 years ago, my Dad thought he’d pulled a muscle – he’d really had a heart attack – we told him he’s so slow he didn’t even realise when he’d had a heart attack! :0) Mum doesn’t drive so we did the specialist and hospital runs down to Bris with him, then “Dad-sat” after he had stents put in – and they say kids are a lot of trouble! Tee! Hee! Hee! Glad all seems well with him and hope Miss Amiee is on the mend. Sounds like you spent Friday just the way you needed to – and there’s always next week for what’s left over!! Enjoy the Christening and family time! Bear Hugs! KRIS

Hi Kerryanne, no wonder you slept and slept i would have too!! Glad to hear things have settled down a bit now though.
I love Fishpond being that it is Australian and all and I didn’t spend a fortune ( well it depends on what you class as a fortune) but I did pre-order the new Tilda book and I can not wait for that to arrive. Glad you got to use your voucher and that is one of my favourite books! Hmm I don’t think I own that though, maybe I should go fishing again..hehehehe
