Do you ever have those days when you deviate from your objective?
Sometimes you need to swerve and miss the everyday. Sometimes you need to find yourself – have some ‘ME’ time. Sometimes you just need a day off!!
I guess this is one of the perks of being self employed. I’ve given myself a ‘mental health day’…. what a lovely boss I am. The work will still be there tomorrow. The Earth won’t stop rotating because I’ve ditched the ‘To Do’ list for one day and maybe… just maybe I’ll feel more centred after a day of spoiling myself.
So, this is what I did this morning. A fun little project I’ve wanted to do for ages.
~ A vintage paper pomander ~
Have I ever told you how much I LOVE this cute little flower punch? I’m sure I must have, but just in case you missed it – I LOOOOVE IT!!!
I found it many years ago in Big W for the strange price of $3.79. At the time I wasn’t sure what I’d do with it but at that price, who could walk away without it. Since then I have used it about a zillion times for card making, scrapbooking, paper crafts and journaling.
Today I used it to make lots of flower cut-outs from vintage music manuscript, old catalogues and books to be used for my paper pomander. The translucent flowers are cut from tracing paper and were used overlayed over vintage flowers cut-outs.
For this project you will need a polystyrene ball, a box of sewing pins and oodles of paper punch flowers. Start by pushing a pin through the centre of the first flower and insert into ball. Place the second flower slightly overlapping the first and so on until you have covered the entire ball. Super easy!!
If you wanted to hang the ball you could finish by adding a ribbon hanger. I left mine without. I have several tone-on-tone vignettes in my beach house that needed a little texture to make them pop. This vintage ball adds an interesting detail without introducing colour.
Before I go, do you remember this post about the garage sale gold mirror?
Well, it got the white paint treatment and a shabby distressing and I’m very happy with the make-over.
I’m off now to spend some time in the sun planting out my new seedlings and mulching the strawberry patch. One of my students gave me a huge box of strawberry plants she dug up. I’ve almost run out of places to plant them. After I filled the vegie patch I used some multi tier strawberry plant pots and now I’m squeezing them amongst other flowers. This should be a good crop when it fruits.
I hope you all have a great weekend.
Hugs ~ Kerryanne

Sort of reminds me of a vintage Bathing Cap…remember the ones.
Isn’t it great to have “Me” days, I had a me afternoon today, not a planned one, just happened that way, I painted something with a black background….enjoyed it so much, no colour restrictions, painted exactly what I felt like, probably won’t sell, but who cares!
have a good weekend, Gail
