Dear self….
Sometimes you need to stop, take a deep breathe and just relax.
Seriously, you need to take better care of yourself.
Please allow some quiet time for you creativity to recharge.
Love,
Your Inner Muse xx
There are lots of ways to give your creativity a boost.
Just having a break from the usual routine is enough to inspire and invigorate…
And that is exactly what I’ve been doing for the past four days.
Although, it didn’t actually go according to plan!
With a free weekend ahead, I had all kinds of things lined up to indulge in and was really looking forward to the down time.
Unfortunately, a nasty weather system came through on Saturday and wreaked havoc over several days. We endured gale force winds, constant rain and power outages for a period of 48 hours.
There was little I could do without power and with poor or little lighting.
So I set about tidying my craft room and in the process spotted something I haven’t used in awhile… my watercolour paints.
Suddenly an idea was born… it was a change of plans, but still one that would provide some quiet down time.
I grabbed my A5 watercolour pad, curled up on my bed close to the window to grab the only snippet of decent light and started doodling with a Zig pen.
Simple… unplanned…. mindless art that is perfect for recharging the creative batteries.
On Sunday I set up my watercolours and ‘played’ some more.
It was incredibly therapeutic.
I felt completely relaxed. Having no power meant that there was no external stimulation. Just the rain on the tin roof, a scented candle and time to just be.
The last couple of days we’ve been cleaning up around the resort. Although we suffered no structural damage in the storms, being in the rainforest meant we were inundated with tree debris.
Sweeping leaves may be a mindless activity, but I can assure you my freshly boosted creative mind was planning and creating the whole time.
I guess I needed that little creativity recharge!
Happy crafting my friends,
Hugs ~ Kerryanne

Glad to hear that you didn’t suffer any structural damage. The news has been full of reports of the bad weather fronts that have hit Australia.
Your watercolouring looks very pretty.

Thank you my friend. I have to say, I’ve never seen a low pressure system as big as this in my lifetime. It started in Queensland and has made it’s way down to Tasmania without losing any of the ferocity. We got off lightly really… lots of people lost everything. We were simply inconvenienced for a few days. Looking on the bright side, I got to play with some art supplies I haven’t used in a while and that was fun. xxx
Is there any way we can get a copy of your drawing — Happiness is a little house filled with love—- to frame or even a black and white copy to
embroider. I love your website. Theres something very calming about it. You are a true inspiration to homemaking. — Tammy
Thank you Tammy. I give a huge amount away for free here on my blog… you can find all my freebies on my Tutorials page. These watercolour pieces are for my own private use I’m afraid. 🙂
A lovely drawing, kind and gentle and beautiful to look at. I love it and the little sign underneath recharging. It would be wonderful to have the skill to draw like that. I guess you had to do a fair amount of “tidy up” after the storm. I hope you have a good week. Hugs Shirley N.Z.
Thank you Shirley. Yes, there was a massive amount to clean up. We’ve never had that much debris from a storm before, but then again, those winds were unrelenting for 2 days. The huge seas ruined our beach and sucked half of it away sadly. It will come back in time, as it always does, but it is a sad mess right now! These sort of drawings are really just doodling Shirley and really not artistic. You should give is a try 🙂 xx
Thank you for sharing your creativity. I am glad you survived the bad weather. Here in Cape Town, South Africa, we are experiencing a drought and badly need rain. It is the middle of our Winter and we have had no rain yet. Have a blessed afternoon.
