Last year I went back to basics and prepared an ‘old fashioned Christmas’.
Do you remember the Christmases of our childhood when our lives seemed much simpler and the joys of Christmas were simpler too?
I had dreamed of an old-fashioned Christmas, simply filled with homemade and home-baked. I knew that a stress free and enjoyable Christmas would require planning and preparation, so I devised a 12 week plan and called it. . . .
I invited all my blog friends to follow along with me. . . and together we had a fantabulous time planning, making, baking and creating the best ever homemade Christmas. We had some amazingly talented Artisans popping in to guest post, there were heaps of creative gift and decorating tutorials to get you inspired, plus delicious Yule time recipes and wonderful giveaways. . . we certainly put the homemade and home baked back into the holidays!!
The best part for me was the wonderful response I received from all of you. When I was planning my 12 week plan I wasn’t sure if anyone else would want to join me on my ‘Simply Christmas’ project. . . so imagine my surprise when hundreds of people joined in the festive fun. I pretty much thought it would end there, but a lot of you had other ideas. Early in the year I heard the first whispers of ‘annual event’. . . really. . . didn’t we cover everything last year? At first I was adamant that it was a one off. . . seriously guys, I was still fatigued from putting it all together. . . but as Christmas 2011 draws closer the whispers have persisted. Huh. . . you all knew I’d cave in!! I’m a great big sucker for all things Christmas.
So yes my friends. . . we are going to take back the holidays and add a homemade touch to everything we do with the 2nd annual. . .
With just 73 days. . . or a little over 10 weeks until Christmas day, the countdown has begun. Over the next few weeks I’ll be putting together, organising and coordinating the ‘Simply Christmas’ blue print so we can begin our 8 week plan on November 1st.
Here’s the part where you get to help out. . . we need fun and easy tutorials for gift giving and home decor, scrumptious secret family recipes for festive baking, some super uber talented guest posters. . . and in the spirit of giving maybe even some sponsored Christmas giveaways. Hhmmm. . . yep that about covers it!!
So, if you can offer any of the above. . .
want to be a guest poster. . .
or know of someone/something that we really must have as part of the 2nd annual ‘Simply Christmas’. . .
let me know here.
Ooooooooo, isn’t this exciting!! I just looooooove Christmas.
Righto, I’m off to start making plans.
