I know that many of you are crafters, sewers or DIY’ers…
So I have a question for you.
What crafting tools can you not live without?
We all have our favourites…
My two things are actually items I made a few years ago and are practical as well as pretty.
My first is my vintage needle book.
For a great many years I was forever buying sewing needles, but never had what I needed, when I needed it.
I was also guilty of sticking them in my cotton reels… only to be accidentally stabbed by them later on.
So I finally made a book to store them in.
I made individual labeled pages, so I would always put them back where they belong.
Now I can go straight to that book, flick through the pages and get the perfect needle for the job… and I never get a needle prick!
This design is available as an E-pattern in my Boutique and comes with all the instructions for printing this design sheet on fabric, using your own computer printer.
Now I’d be lost without my needle book.
It’s definitely been one of my most popular patterns and I think that is because it also makes such a lovely gift for someone special.
If you’d like to make one, you can purchase the pattern here.
My next favourite tool is also sewing related.
I suppose I could live without it… but life is so much nicer having my Pincushion angel on my sewing table.
As anyone who sews knows, you have to have something to keep your pins in when using your sewing machine.
And my angel works double duty as the keeper of my embroidery scissors in her rear pocket too.
I like having something a little different and I guess it has more sentimental value when you make it yourself.
This didn’t start out to be an advertisement for my E-patterns [blush],
But the Pincushion Angel is also available in my Boutique.
I’d hate to have to part with either of these craft room tools.
So tell me….
What crafting tool is your absolute must have?
I’m sharing my craft room must haves with these friends this week:

Kerryanne, everything you make is so beautiful. Hugs, Pat.
Thanks Pat… that’s really sweet of you. 🙂
Love, love, love the needle book!! I need to put that on my to-do list.
Both of these are wonderful, Kerryanne. That needle book is really a great idea. ~ Nancy
Thank you Nancy 🙂
I honestly don’t know how I coped for so many years without the needle book.
Kerryanne,
Love both your favorite tools. Love that pin angel. She is too sweet. I do not sew but would love an angel like that. I wish you made these up for us girls to purchase that cannot sew!!! She is so adorable. Love your needle book too.
Kris
Thank you Kris. I always have good intentions of making to sell Kris, but I get very little creative time these days, so it rarely happens. I’m hoping one of these days I’ll spend less time working at the resort and spend more time in my craft room.
Hugs ~ Kerryanne
Your needle case & pincushion are beautiful Kerryanne.
For sewing I have a small pair of dress-making shears that my Mum bought me when I was taking my exams at senior school. No-one is allowed to touch these shears and they have only ever been used for fabric.
When it comes to my paper crafts it has to be my pen collection (all 1000+ of them). I love to colour and my collection of alcohol, distress & aqua pens are my must-have items.
I had a lovely little needle case that I had made and decorated with cross stitch. It housed all my needles – different types grouped together for ease – what I didn’t bank on was a hubby who doesn’t care what type needle as long as it does what he wants…have you seen sewing needles bent round terminals to improve conduction when trying to check the power levels in batteries? Needless to say, my case is tucked away in a safe place but my needle collection has sadly dwindled.

I love your essential items Toni…. all 1000 pens 😉
You are a girl after my own heart – lol.

The sewing item i need to always have at arms length is my chop stick. I use it often stuffing or turning a limb and body of my newly sewn ‘cant part with’ friend! no chop stick no stuffin’.
I find your blog one fabulous place. And both creations are fantastic. I am also crafting, so I know how big pleasure are bringing.
