Here we are at the start of not only a new year, but a new decade as well…. which I always find invigorating.
At this time of year most of us set up our new diaries, calendars, planners and journals as a way of being organised and documenting our year.
For 2020, I’ve decided to make a journal with a difference…. and I’m sharing this project, ‘A Year of Vintage Postcards’ with you too!
This journal is a flip book filled with gorgeous vintage postcards from the 1800’s.
Every month there will be two new printable vintage postcards to add to the collection with both a front and back. They each measure 9 cm x 14 cm (3.5” x 5’5”).
The back of the postcards have a blank space that can be used to document events, information or simply to diarize your journey each month.
Included in January’s free vintage postcard printables is a bonus journal card.
It’s the same size as the postcards and can be printed and used if you need more space to write things down each month.
The first set of printables for January 2020 include: a cover card, two vintage postcards and a journal card.
Throughout 2020, I will share a new set of vintage postcards during the first week of each month, that you can add to your flip book.
Alternatively, you may just wish to keep the postcards in your own graphics collection for use in other projects.
By the end of the year you will have a minimum of 25 vintage postcards…. or more if you are also using journal cards.
There may even be a few ‘bonus items’ along the way!
If like me you decide to use your postcard collection as a diary, you’ll be able to easily look back over your year by flipping through your mini book.
How to make your vintage postcard flip book:
-
Each month, download the PDF file and print on card or matt photo paper.
-
Cut out the postcard front and back as one piece.
-
Score across the centre of the postcards where the front and back meet.
-
Fold along the score line so that the printed images are on the outside.
-
Using glue suitable for paper, adhere the front of the postcard to the back.
-
Punch a hole either in the top centre or one of the top corners of each postcard and insert on a binder ring.
