Hello shabbilicious friends,
Since my daughters wedding in early December, I’ve had many emails from readers requesting that I share photos of the wedding day and also the secret wedding projects I was working on last year… so here it a peak at Jessica and Nathan’s wedding day.
It is an exciting time when a daughter gets married.
There is much to organise and our daughters wedding had the added complication that the bridal party lived in 4 different states of Australia…. but with some careful planning, along with lots of emails and phone conversations, we were able to put together our daughters dream wedding.
The day of the wedding was a flurry of hair and make-up,
cheerful bridesmaids, an excited bride-to-be…. and one nervous dad.
I don’t mind telling you that it took some patience, a crochet hook
and a team effort to get the bride into her beautiful bridal gown!!
And then the bride and her dad were off to the wedding.
The ceremony took place in a small garden courtyard at the wedding venue
and was an intimate gathering of immediate family and close friends.
Due to the extreme heat, fresh flowers were not an option unfortunately.
In the weeks leading up to the wedding I made all of the flowers for the wedding.
For the ceremony there was gathered eucalyptus sprigs for the isle, cones of fresh white
rose petals for tossing, an urn filled with eucalyptus, lamb’s ear and white roses,
along with large lanterns filled with white candles.
I was honoured that my daughter wore the veil that
I wore to my own wedding 30 years ago.
In front of their loved ones, the bride and groom exchanged
beautiful vows…. rings… and a kiss…
The marriage certificate was signed…
And in a break with tradition, they each asked their grandfathers
to be the official witnesses at their wedding.
Then they were married… finally Mr & Mrs.
The celebrations kicked off then with evening cocktails,
followed by a five course dinner and dancing.
As the Mother-of-the-bride, it was a day filled with many emotions;
love, pride and happiness were the overriding ones, and it was with great joy
that I watched my daughter marry the man of her dreams.
Some of the other handmade items I made for the wedding were…
The Bride’s bouquet of white roses with eucalyptus and lamb’s ear, the boutonnieres
for the men, and bridesmaids’ bouquets of pink roses, rose buds and greenery.
I designed all of the stationery, which included save the dates, invitations,
menu cards, place cards and the main seating plan board.
For the tables we made wreaths of eucalyptus, lamb’s ear and white roses,
and in the centre was a glass candle holder and white pillar candles.
The long wedding party table had a 2 metre long garland
of eucalyptus and white roses.
The wedding venue was amazing,
the food exceptional and a
fabulous time was had by all.
Thank you to the lovely Amy and Chris at About Time Co for spending the day
photographing all the special moments of Jessica and Nathan’s wedding day.
Happy crafting my friends!
Hugs

Thank you sweet Pam. Yes, my daughter does look quite a lot like me now, but a lot taller. Jessica knew exactly what she wanted the flowers to look like and I think I met the brief 😉
Thank you for your kind wishes xx

Looks like it was a gorgeous wedding! Congrats to the bride and groom! Brides dresses are so beautiful these days… Your daughter was a picture of beauty! Glad it all went well and then you get to rest..eventually…
Kerryanne says
We think it was a perfect wedding Kathy and exactly what my daughter wanted. One of my great joys was travelling across to the west to help her choose her wedding dress. It was so beautiful and she felt very special in it and that it what matters. I was especially touched that she chose to wear my veil too. After our busy 2019, I’m looking forward to a slightly more relaxed 2020 🙂

Oh so beautiful! I can’t imagine all the time you spent making those gorgeous roses and the bouquets, etc. It’s absolutely amazing! Your daughter looks so beautiful and loved seeing you two together. I always hope that newlyweds can remain as happy together for years and years, as they are on the day of the wedding. You did so much for them.. doing the invites, save the dates, menus, etc. When you enjoy it, I bet it was so fun.. but so many hours too! Best wishes to them both! Marilyn
Kerryanne says
Thank you Marilyn. I loved that the bride and groom chose to have their grandfathers witness their wedding. They each have 60 years of marriage behind them, so great role models.
I was so happy and honoured to make all the things for the wedding and I guess in a way, my children would expect that of me. They’ve grown up with an art studio at home and think their mum can make everything – lol. I’m pretty happy with how it all turned out. Thank you for your best wishes for the happy couple x

Blanca Martinez says
Wow! Everything you did was amazing,
I’m an artist and a former florist from Beverly Hills, and we did many beautiful weddings ? but what you designed was remarkable, I love everything you did and your daughter’s dress is soo beautiful and romantic! You should be proud of yourself!
Kerryanne says
That’s such a lovely thing to say Blanca… thank you so much. I was worried at first about doing the flowers. My instinct was to have fresh flowers, but I purchased the very best, life-like silk flowers I could get and once I made the first bouquet I was off and running with it. As it turned out, the day prior to the wedding was a very hot 40°, so I knew then that fresh flowers wouldn’t have cut it. It all turned out perfect on the day. 🙂
Kris @ Junk Chic Cottage says

Kerryanne says
It was truly a beautiful and very romantic day Kris. The dress was really exquisite…. I wish you could see the lace in the train close up. Such a pity it will only be worn just the once, but I’ve wrapped it in blue paper for maybe someone else to where one day. Hugs to you xx

Congratulations to the bride and groom. The wedding looks like a fairy tale. I bet your heart was bursting with pride. Pink roses are my favorite and the blush pink on the bridesmaids was lovely. I’m sure all of your hard work was appreciated by everyone; it surely made the day special.
Kerryanne says
Thank you Kathy. I thought the blush pink looked lovely on the bridesmaids too and the dress was actually a hard choice to make because all 3 of the girls lived in different states of Australia… so they didn’t come together until the day before the wedding. It was my honour to be able to make the items for the wedding and I know that my daughter and her husband appreciated all the time and effort.

Beautiful details for a day filled with wonderful memories! Reading this brought me back to the day of our daughter’s wedding 17 years ago. Your daughter looked radiant alongside her handsome groom. I particularly enjoyed the break in tradition by having their grandfathers be the witnesses to their day of love. Congratulations and best wishes to the happy couple!
Kerryanne says
Thanks Sheila. Wasn’t that lovely to have their grandfathers involved in the wedding. Each has been married for 60 years, so setting a good example for what makes a great marriage.

Such a beautiful bride and beautiful wedding! You must be so thrilled, Kerryanne! Congratulations!
Kerryanne says
Thank you Christine. I was exceptionally thrilled with how it all turned out.
I only ever wanted my daughter to have the dream wedding that she envisaged… not what was traditional or what others thought she should have. We tried hard to assist her in making that dream come true and I believe that her day was quite magical for her. I was certainly a proud mama!
Marilyn says

I **LOVE** being involved in the planning….you can feel the love & happiness from everyone involved in the planning; when a good friend of mine’s step daughter was married I assisted her in several areas of the wedding; I found a very small heart cookie cutter & made shortbread cookies; once these were cut out, I had a very small thimble I used to cut out the center, once baked I poured a lightly tinted pink icing glaze over the cookies; once dried I tied 2 cookies together, w/a/very fine baby ribbon; *LOTS* of wonderful comments were heard throughout the day & evening, about the cookies. It was a work of love & I’d do it again. thank you for allowing me to share a bit of my vintage love through cookies at a wedding!
