Today I’m sharing a fabulous recipe for making your own [super easy] body/hand lotion. If you are like our family of dry skinned girls, you’ll be thrilled to try this.
My eldest daughter has a continuous battle with allergies and severe eczema. I’ve found the key to success with keeping it all under control is adequate moisturizing and hydration, which decreases itching and formation of eczema. . . so we are always seeking good moisturisers.
When I first read about this homemade lotion I thought it sounded interesting. Then it popped up again in a link party and then on numerous other blogs. . . and everyone was raving about it, so we gave it a try.
There’s only 3 ingredients, but you can add scent (like rose water) if you wish.
The making of this body/hand lotion couldn’t be easier.
Add all 3 ingredients to a bowl and whip with beaters until it resembles icing.
Transfer mixture to bottles and jars.
We think this lotion is a winner . . . and we’ve tried plenty. . . so give it a try and let me know what you think!!
Hugs ~ Kerryanne
That looks good enough to actually eat Kerryanne!!~
Mr C has kind of dried hands & i spend a fortune on a very expensive french hand cream for him (bought some today actually)..
I shall show him this post (minus any rose fragrances etc)..lol..
xx andrea
I’ll have to give it a go. My son gets excema on his lower legs and he is very sensitive to alot of lotions so who knows this might be the one!
Kerryanne your blog is beautiful
But I’m afraid I have to say even tho Johnson &johnson is a pretty colour it is full of really bad chemicals which will simply exacerbate any skin condition. There are so many other better purer lotions out there, linda
You know, I would never have thought of combining these 3 ingredients…thank you for the idea, will have to give it a go.

Well Linda, I’ve heard the hype about J&J and mineral oil, but let me tell you this… my daughter is allergic to many and most chemicals, she has never been able to use soaps and many cosmetics, but she has no problem with the baby lotion.
I’m not asking you to make it or use it… I’m just saying that we’ve found it very effective for her troubled skin and ecsema!!
I would have replied to your comment by email but you are anonomous and set to ‘no reply’.
Thanks Kerryanne! I have seen this recipe around a few times and all those times I forgot to ‘pin’ it or write it down for future reference … I am now gonna pin it AND write it down. Since we have high humidity at this time of year I think I’ll leave it for closer to the dry season!!
This looks nice, easy and healthy !!! I’ll try soon…
Have a nice day !

My daughter also has eczema which is usually under control but flares up when she swims a lot & even stress can trigger it. I’ve been using BioOil but can’t wait to make up a batch of your lotion to try out … thanks a stack
My daughter also suffers from eczema, but is allergic to vitamin e cream, could you suggest something we could use in place of this, i was wondering if sorbelene cream might work.
Can’t wait to give this a try! Thanks so much for posting 😉

This sounds like a winner. I usually put lotion in my hand and then scoop some vaseline and rub them together, but it would be nice to have it all mixed up in the same bottle. I’ll be giving this a try! We have tons of baby lotion around here.
I’d love for you to link up and share: http://tutusandteaparties.blogspot.com/2012/01/pinteresting-party-week-twenty-two.html
I just made a similar ‘recipe’ tonight but was instructed to add Aloe Vera lotion as well – hoping it works wonders!!
Made a couple of batches of this at Christmas, and my split thumbs are almost completely healed up now. On the advice of another blogger, I got the lavendar scented baby lotion and got a blinding headache from the scent – UNTIL it was mixed with the 2 other ingredients, which toned it right down. Next batch I used Shea Butter scent – like it much better. And the scaley patches on my elbows are much better.
Quel joli blog. Merci. Je vais essayer cette creme , mais ou trouver la ”creme vitamine E”

Thanks for this post! I was actually just looking for something easy and cute for my daughter’s friends to make at a “spa” themed party. This fits the bill perfectly. As an extra bonus, we have two eczema suffers in our house so we’ll be whipping up some extra for the two of us!
Kerryanne,
This cream looks lovely, my legs are always dry, so I will have some fun making it and see how it works on me. At the moment I am unable to sit at my Computer ( sciatic nerve pain) so I am using my partners old IPad, while sitting on my recliner with my leg up, it is a challenge using a Mac, but at least I can still enjoy looking at your lovely pics and items you have made. Thank you so much for your beautiful items to enjoy browsing through
