Making handmade Christmas ornaments is like adding a little bit of your heart to the Christmas tree…
And I like being able to make something that is original, one-of-a-kind and uniquely ‘me’.
Handmade Christmas ornaments also make great gift tags too, so this is a project that does double duty!
I’m thrilled to be once again joining the 31 Handmade Christmas Ornaments blog hop organised by
Yesterday on Tuesday, Cupcakes and Crinoline and An Extraordinary Day.

Here’s a sweet little vintage angel graphic I made to add a vintage look to your Christmas decor.
How to make a Vintage Angel Christmas Ornament
Materials
- Free vintage angel graphic from Shabby Art Boutique – Download HERE.
- Cardboard
- Matt photo paper
- DecoArt Decoupage Glue and small foam brush
- Craft knife
- Hole punch
- German Glass Glitter
- Rhinestone button (Etsy)
- Seam Binding Ribbon 15mm wide.
Instructions
1. Download the free graphic and print onto matt photo paper. Using the foam brush and the decoupage paste, adhere the graphic to light cardboard and leave to dry flat .
2. Using a sharp knife, cut out the ornament shape. The back of the ornament can be finished with another angel print, pretty scrapbook card or by painting it.
3. Apply a little white glue (decoupage paste) to the bottom of the ornament shape and sprinkle with German Glass Glitter. Shake off excess glitter and lay flat to dry.
4. Make a small hole in the top of the ornament using a hole punch.
5. Use crinkled bias tape to make a hanger and bow for your ornament. A pretty rhinestone button finishes off your ornament and adds a little extra pizzazz.
Note: I have a tutorial on how to dye and crinkle your seam binding ribbon for vintage projects.
This is a quick and easy ornament to make, especially if you are making several at once.
I left the back of my angel ornaments blank, so I could use them as gift tags.

Am so praying you and yours had a spectacular Christmas.
You spoil us so lovingly Kerryanne, thank you. I made several of both of these angels, using some chunkier glitter, pretty buttons with pearl like centers, the white bias tape. I had hard time giving them up, loved them so much. I didn’t have the photo paper but they turned out sort of faded on card stock. Was needing to use several substitutions of recommended supplies but really used my imagination to help them look pretty.
We were so broke as we had 5 weeks between Thanksgiving payday and 2 days after Christmas (5 weeks) at a money spending time of year, lol.
Instead of putting angels you centered on a folded paper backing I used a glitter paper circle. and some pretty buttons trying to make it pretty but save time. My hands don’t do the folded circles well at all so had to think of alternative to make it attractive, hope you would have approved..
You shared so many wonderful projects to make, was hard to decide which ones I would make when it came down to the final time to get busy, was crowding in extras when you’d share another lovely ornament to make. Each and every one was beautiful.I respect your talent so much and love all you share.
Wishing you and yours a wonderful and HAPPY NEW YEAR.
