It’s fair to say these are most unusual times we are living in and not surprisingly, many people feel anxious.
Maybe you are working from home, self isolating or staying safe at home – every country calls it something different, but no matter what you call it, we are all in this together.
I’m trying to keep a positive attitude, while keeping my hands busy in the craft room.
Crafting always relaxes me and it also provides an escape from the outside world for a bit. So why don’t you join me… turn off the news, pop on some relaxing music, maybe light a scented candle and let’s get crafting!!
Now that you’ve suddenly found yourself with more time at home, perhaps this is a good time to sort our your craft supplies… you never know what surprises you might find.
I’ve been doing a bit of a clean up and re-organise myself and took some time to wind a heap of new lace trims and ribbon onto boards for easier storage. It always shocks me when I see crafters with a basket or box of twisted ribbons and haberdasheries…. how do they ever find anything?
I want to help support you through these difficult times, so I’m sharing this set of 8 pretty new boards I just created for my own craft room.
They are a little bit vintage and a little bit shabby…. and perfect for storing your laces, ribbons and embroidery threads on.
Stack them in a box, stand on a shelf or tie them together with a ribbon. No matter how you store them, it is going to be much easier to see what you have available to use and better than a twisted and knotted mess.
How to Make Ribbon & Lace Boards
1. Download the free printable PDF. It is two pages; one page with 8 boards and one page of a backing design.
Click here for A4 size PDF ~ or ~ Click here for letter size PDF (USA)
2. There are various way to print your boards:
- I printed the two page PDF on 250 gram matte photo paper. I wanted quite stiff cards, so applied a layer of stick glue over the back of one sheet and adhered the two pages together to make a thicker card.
- You could also print the boards on normal paper and adhere that sheet to a thick card or chipboard.
3. Cut out your boards with either a sharp craft knife (my preferred method) or a pair of sharp scissors. If you have any rough edges, here’s a tip… take a nail file and lightly sand the edges.
4. If you prefer a more grunge vintage look, you can ink the sides of the boards now (I sway more to a shabby style, so skip this step).
That’s it… wasn’t that easy. Now all you have to do is wind your laces, ribbons etc onto the boards and secure with a pin.

Now that I have my craft room all tidied up and organised again, I’m working on adding new printables to my Etsy store.
It’s a bit of a process to load them up, so I’ll be doing a few each day.
Here’s a look at some new items I’ve already added for craft storage today…..
Beautiful Victorian style button cards in vintage blues…
And pretty pinks.
And in the coming days….. more lace and ribbon boards and matching printable buttons.
