It is after all the first day of December ~ the countdown is officially on. In our home this morning we woke to squeals of delight as door #1 was ripped open on the advent calendars….. aahhh yes, nothing like chocolate for breakfast.
I noticed that the chocolate surprises inside the advent calendars seem to be getting smaller each year. This is probably a good thing given millions of children all over the world are tucking into their calendars the moment their eye are open each morning.
So with the days fast slipping away until Christmas is here, I have a small gift for all my readers – a free Christmas pattern download. If you are anything like me, you already have a huge list of crafting festive projects to get through, but this one is a quickie.
Ever since my girls were small we have honoured the tradition of putting a plate of food out for Santa’s supper. It started innocently enough with a glass of milk and a piece of homemade fruit cake, but somehow over the years it progressed to a cold beer and a platter of cakes. [giggle]
Then one year Princess Jess said “what about the reindeers?” and so a new tradition was started. The sprinkling of magical reindeer food on the lawn just before going to bed was a very enjoyable experience for all of us.
I’ve adapted one of my designs from my latest Whimsical Doodles book for use as a stitchery on a Reindeer Food bag. Alternatively, you could make it as a pen and wash project.
Click here to download the pattern.
If you would like to see more samples from my Whimsical Christmas Doodles book, you’ll find them on the same page as the pattern download.
I hope you enjoy making the reindeer food bag and the magical reindeer food recipe.
Hugs ~ Kerryanne

Thank you for the pattern Kerryanne. I don’t know when I will have the time to do it though!!!
We have done the reindeer food for the last few years as well – the boys love it!

Hi Kerryanne
My neices are coming to stay pre Christmas Day, won’t your pattern be perfect for them. I think I might buy some gift boxes, they can paint or colour in your design and paste it on the box
Thankyou so much!

Thanks for this cute pattern – I have it added to my to do list. We don’t do the choc advent Calendar any more… we have a family activity calendar instead with 25 pockets of little messages like…get an iceblock after school today, or rent a DVD and make some popcorn for a movie night or (our family favourite) … have 2 desserts for dinner tonight!! The kids just love it and we have some great family fun on the days leading up to Christmas.

We used to have it little plastic bags when the kids were smaller and I just know they are going to love this project…it will go into their advent calender pockets. Yes we have a swag of 25 pockets and each day has 3 treats or an activity for us all to do..bit slack haven’t put it up yet this year but at least now I have an activity!
Many thanks again,

This is so fun! We sprinkled reindeer food last year and I still find sparkly stars on the front dirt patch today (because we have no lawn in this drought). Thanks so much for the DL, it’s awesome! I think we’ll make a little package for each of the school friends, and use your lovely poem and image on them!

Hey Kerryanne! Uh oh! Another project to go on my “To Do” list! Thank you for the lovely design, Kerryanne – there are sure to be a lot of happy reidneers this Christmas. Just hope they don’t eat so much reindeer food at each stop that they’re too heavy to fly – poor Sant would have to ring Jenny Craig to help his team slim down to flying weight! Tee! Hee! Hee! Christmas sure is sneaking up fast – have fun preparing! Bear Hugs! KRIS
