Now in its 24th year, Wintersun is Australia’s leading retro nostalgia festival.
For the first time, Port Macquarie has been host to this wonderful festival for the past 10 days.
After a week of beautiful sunny days, the weather over the weekend turned for the worse. Under cloudy skies, we enjoyed a fabulous day on Saturday taking in the sights of this wonderful event. I felt quite at home amongst the beautiful women dressed in frilly petticoats, 50’s swing dresses, cats eye sun glasses and bright red lipstick; rockabilly men with leather jackets and sideburns, live rock and roll bands and the revving of hot rod cars. Couples danced in designated areas and some. . . well they just danced in the street.
And there were 1500 pre 1974 cars on show
Along the waterways and within the beautiful parkways there were over 140 market stalls to tempt us with all things associated with this wonderful festival.
Many of my friends had stalls set up including Mel who had this sensational vintage caravan as part of her stall. . . how cute is that!
All the stall holders dressed to the theme and looked amazing.
There was a cake bake competition. . .
Vintage fashion parade. . .
dancing. . .
and the odd Elvis too.
For this vintage girl, it was lovely to step back in time to an era when women were so feminine and sophisticated. . . and still wore aprons.
Oh yeah, you know how much I love a pretty apron!!
Kerryanne this festival looks amazing and a lot of fun
What a blast!

What a super event – it sounds such fun. Those cars look amazing and seeing folk dressed for the era must really add to the atmosphere.
