I’ve made a lot of craft projects over the years, but there are a few that remain absolute favourites.
Back in 2012 I designed and made this vintage look needle book.
I still use it every week in my studio.
It appeals to me on many levels… it’s got a shabby, vintage time worn vibe, which I love.
It is both functional and practical. I like having a page for every type of needle, so I can always find exactly what I need.
It holds a lot, but is still small enough to be portable and easily thrown into my sewing bag for travelling or crafting play dates.
There are even handy pockets inside for scissors and threads.
For the past five years, this has been one of my most popular E-patterns sold in my Boutique…
But now I am offering it here for you as a free project.
It would be a perfect handmade gift for that creative friend or family member. I’ve made a few of these needle books for gifts and they are always greatly appreciated.

The tutorial and pattern for this project is quite detailed, so I’ve broken them up into 2 PDF files that you can download to your own computer.

For your convenience, I’m providing affiliate shopping links to the products I used:
Rhinestone and pearl button from Etsy. I love these buttons!
I hope you enjoy making and using this needle book as much as I have.

This is such a pretty item whilst also being useful.
Thank you so much for the PDFs.
A good few years ago I made quite a few needle cases for friends as Christmas gifts so I know you are right in saying that they are a popular gift idea. Thank you once again Kerryanne and have a fabulous week.

Thanks so much, Kerryanne! At the moment all my needle packs are stuffed in a tin. This would certainly inspire me to do more handwork.

That is just such a beautiful project, Kerryanne! I wouldn’t use one any time soon, but maybe sometime in the future I will get back to needlework.

I absolutely adore this needle case and the PDF patterns. Do you sell the printed panels already done? I live in Australia, and remember buying some similar squares at a quilt show I think printed on silk but cannot find where to buy them now. Unfortunately at this time I cannot try to print for myself
Kerryanne says
Hi Glenys,
I used to sell the printed panels for this project when I first designed it back in 2012, but I’ve changed my business structure since then and unfortunately no longer sell products such as these direct to customers. Would you perhaps have a friend or family member that could print it for you?
Happy crafting,
Kerryanne
