I love the cottage mix and match style of combining spots, stripes and florals.
It certainly adds a fun and whimsical element to my decorating and I like that it is easy to throw together or change around.
The relaxed ‘no rules’ concept of the cottage look makes it easy for anyone to achieve too.
I’m a big fan of the Danish brand, GreenGate and use if often in my kitchen vignettes. Their pastel palette is so perfect and I adore their floral designs.
But what if you can’t purchase the GreenGate Collection where you live?
It’s a question I get asked almost weekly on my Facebook page and I know it is frustrating for my readers in the US and Canada.
The combination of polka dots, florals and stripes evoke that cozy, relaxed feel of the cottage look, but you don’t have to buy GreenGate to achieve this look.
How to create a pastel cottage kitchen
I popped over to Amazon today and threw a few pieces in my shopping cart to show you how easy it is to create a pretty pastel cottage look in your kitchen.
I’ve provided links to each item below the image if you would like more information about any of these items. They are affiliate links, so I wish to disclose that I will make a small commission at no extra cost to you if you purchase something.
1. Royal Albert set of 4 coasters
2. Mason Jar Ceramic Measuring Spoons Set
3. Floral Quartz Pink Oven Mitts
4. Emma Bridgewater Round Cake Tins
5. Ceramic Cake & Dessert Pedestal Display Stand
7. Polka Blue Teaset Collection
8. Set of 3 Silicone Whisk Set in Pink
To create this collection, I simply looked for items in a limited pastel colour palette with a combination of plain pieces and polka dots and florals.
This look works especially well when you have a white or neutral backdrop.
I like to incorporate a mix of practical pieces, with a few fun, decorative elements thrown in like pretty clocks, quirky oven mitts or hand towels.

I have found a range of china that I can easily get hold of near to where I live – Bronte Charm – and it works we with the plains, spots & stripes that I have from a number of sources. My main colour is shades of “Duck-egg” with white.
