Ever had an epiphany or a moment of clarity?
Tuesday nights I hold a creative craft class and it was during this class last night that I had my epiphany. I ducked out of the classroom briefly to grab something from the house and when I was returning down the path I stopped for a moment and took in the sight. There through the window was a hive of activity . . . 9 women all working on different crafting projects, but gathered together in the one quest. . . creativity and ‘ME’ time. Peering through that window I could see joy on their faces, frivolity in their voices and an overwhelming sense of friendship. . . and it was at that moment I knew that my studio provided a special gathering place.
I’d like to say that this gathering resembled bees buzzing around the hive. . . but in reality it sounded more like a chook house with lots of squawking and cackling. . . and apparently one hyena (who could that be?).
A rude person once referred to a couple of my students as ‘bored housewives. . . which was actually meant to be an insult, but we quickly adopted it as our mantra – The Bored Housewives Club. In reality, by day my student’s occupations are quiet varied. . . accountant, dental hygienist, masseuse, police officer, book keeper etc, but come Tuesday night we gather together as ‘The Bored Housewives’ and we get our creative groove on.
I love that we share our creative ideas, our crafting supplies and our own expertise in different areas. As you can see from the photos from last night, we turn our hands to many different creative activities, but we always support and encourage each other and along the way we share another wonderful journey. . . friendship!
Sometimes you just have to stop in your tracks. . . take in the moment. . . and appreciate that you have something special.
May your day be filled with creativity.
Hugs ~ Kerryanne

I have a couple of groups that I attend and won’t be giving them up. They are my sanity breaks, my opportunity to create and share with others, I leave those groups, relaxed, enthused and ready for anything.

It is very inspiring to know there are others out there having fun getting together, sharing trade secrets, supporting each other and building new friendships that will hopefully last a life time. You bring hope to the rest of us lost in the dark!!! Thank you for leaving the light on.

Hey Kerryanne! What a lovely epiphany to have! :0) And how wonderful to discover that your studio is providing a haven to encourage creativity and mutual support. Keep up the fantastic work of encouraging ladies to take some “ME” time out from their busy lives to create! :0) I’m not close enough to come play with you in your studio, but perhaps I can be an honourary “Bored Housewife” … as long as I’m not actually required to do housewifely housework! Tee! Hee! Hee! Bear Hugs! KRIS

I just love this! What a great post. I think there is no better way to spend time than with friends, friends and crafting, even better! And for that special someone who stated that housewives are bored, well I have NEVER met a housewife that has time to be bored! I found you through the Grow Your Blog Series! I am your newest follower!
