The twentieth year of marriage is one of the big milestone anniversaries. Over the past 2 weeks, Mark and I have been reflecting on the commitment to a lifetime of marriage the two of us made on April 1st, 1990.
In some respects I think back and can’t believe our beautiful wedding day was actually 20 years ago…. and then I look at this photo taken of us just last week and I can see the 20 years written all over our faces – LOL.
Aahhhh… those creases are merely laughter lines and we are quite obviously very happy people!!
We’ve been planning our anniversary celebration since late last year and in a strange twist, we broke with the traditional romantic getaway (we’ll have that later) and decided on a family holiday. Our children after all are the product of our marriage, so it seemed only fair they got to join in the celebration.
We stopped in at beautiful Byron Bay, both on the way up the coast and again on the way back home. We love this crazy town. This bus looks like it is straight out of one of my hippy paintings. The psychedelic double decker ‘Magic Bus’ is the funkiest way to get from Byron to Nimbin. For anyone who knows what Nimbin is famous for, you’ll understand why the bus is painted this way.
Among other things, Byron is famous for being the most easterly point of Australia. It has gorgeous beaches, unspoilt hinterland, and a somewhat relaxed lifestyle…. very relaxed!!
I think the 10am should read ’10 ish’ as we were sitting outside the shop at 10:30 with still no signs of life!!
Once on the Gold Coast we did all the usual things….. walks on the beach
swimming in the 2 resort pools
Naturally the kids had to do the theme parks.
They are advertised as having the BIGGEST. TALLEST. FASTEST. most spine-tingling, heart pumping scream rides in the country, which translated meant this mummy was merely there to carry the bags.
Mark and Jess braved the claw!
Then we struggled to get the girls away from the kangaroos….
We had a fabulous time; enjoyed shopping, eating out and having a touch of the city again. Now we are home again and getting back into our usual routine. It was very reassuring when all 4 of us agreed that it was nice to be back in the city for a bit, but even nicer to be back home in our coastal town, living the sea change adventure.
Until next time – I’ll be busy in the studio catching up with the workload.
Hugs ~ Kerryanne

Hey Kerryanne! Congratulations on 20 years – may there be another 20 … or 40 … or more … to enjoy together. Looks like you had a fab time on the coast – laughed at the sign for opening times cos I get laughed at all the time for putting “ish” on the end of my arrival times! Tee! Hee! Hee! And that bus – WHEW! The funny thing is, the locals probably think it’s plain red or something after indulging in some of the Nimbin specialty crop! :0) Your theme part hop looks fun – I’m one of the big kids who hangs out for the rides – the wilder the better!! But I’m pretty sure I could have helped you shop, too! Tee! Hee! Hee! Hope you’re having a lovely week settling back into your seachange serenity. Bear Hugs! KRIS

It is Steve and my 20th wedding anniversary this year too! We also have lots of laughter lines ;0) AND we also had the same holiday as you the summer just gone. I absolutely LOVE byron bay, bought myself my most favourite and wanted pair of Birkenstocks there (most comfortable shoe in the world). Also did the theme parks, however I actually DID go on the claw and screamed myself hoarse!! (never again lol) And I love the nickelodean bucket (with slime)

You both still look like young love birds to me and obviously the sea change is doing you all good.
How sweet to include Jess and Aimee on your romantic celebration holiday. lol
I can see that colourful bus will be a painting in the near future.

I think that if I lived on a beach, I’d still go to a beach on vacation too! But, land locked here in KS, those opportunities don’t come up much. Lucky you!
Happy Anniversary!!
