As we approach Easter, I like to add a few Easter and spring elements to my decorating.
I have a box of Easter pretties that I add to each year…. white china bunnies, handmade tags, bunnies and fabric eggs etc.
They are perfect for bringing a touch of Easter to the vignettes I already have around the house, without going to too much fuss.
I’m joining with my bHome friends this week to bring you a collection of Easter inspirations and a fabulous Giveaway from April Cornell. See all the details at the bottom of my post today.
Nests go hand in hand with both Easter and Spring and are the perfect addition to your cottage decor…. and they couldn’t be easier.
I made this one from bits and pieces in my yard and it honestly took about 15 minutes to construct.
How to make a bowl nest
I’ve made whole nests before, but find these bowl nests are the easiest nests and they fit in with my GreenGate decor perfectly.
Materials
-
Small twigs from the garden
-
A handful of Spanish Moss
-
Hot Glue Gun
Instructions
1. Fill bowl with Spanish Moss.
2. Make a frame to fit the top of your bowl using small twigs. I used a hot glue gun to adhere twigs together. Place frame on top of bowl, allowing some of the Spanish Moss to spill over the top of the bowl.
3. You can add fresh or faux flowers to the top of your twig nest.
4. Fill your nest with eggs, birds or like I did, a sweet ceramic bunny.
[PIN for later]
I’ve also tucked a few bunnies in and around my living areas… popping out of containers, sitting in a grouping on shelves and coffee table vignette.
This bunny is one I handmade from fabric and then painted last year. I have several of these in varying sizes that come out for Easter and again in Spring… which for us is September to December.
