Participating in Jennifer Rizzo’s
Holiday Housewalk Linky party 2019
December is super busy in our household this year with both Christmas and my daughter’s wedding.
With lots of visitors and house guests here over the coming weeks, I decided to keep Christmas decorating simple…. and with a more romantic feel this year.
In the main open plan living, dining and kitchen area the decor has a neutral colour palette, with just a few pops of pale aqua
I re-used my snow flocked trees and garlands with warm white lights throughout these rooms.
For a touch of romance, I added in lots of white candles; both real and flameless.
One new thing I introduced this year was flocked pinecones…. oh my, these have my heart.
My hand painted angel found a new home over the antique dresser mirror in the living room.
She fits nicely between the two windows and holds a small flocked wreath.
My living room has windows on every wall, so it is very light and bright during the day.
At night, rather than using lamps we have been enjoying the glow from the trees that are positioned in three spots around the large open plan area.
On the coffee table I’ve used more flameless candles (which we actually use all year round) and a sweet sparkly and icy looking tree I picked up last month at Bed, Bath and Table…. isn’t it a cutie!
It’s a pale aqua, which echoes the same colour I’ve used as a feature colour on the main tree in this room.
I hadn’t planned on having a tree in this room, because our main large tree is downstairs in our media room, but we had a small gap in the corner of the room that was just perfect to squeeze another snowy tree into.
It’s actually a space beside the sofa where there is a door out to the wrap around veranda. We have three doors that open out to this veranda and we never use this particular door…. so, now there’s a small 6 foot flocked tree tucked in the space.
This tree is literally smothered in baubles of varying textures in a neutral colour palette of white, gold and bronze.
For a pop of colour I also added a dozen glass baubles in soft aqua and forest green.
I used a wide natural woven ribbon threaded through the tree… and did you spot the dozen white birds?
On our shabby farmhouse table there are three simple potted trees from IKEA.
These will be swapped out for other items throughout the season, depending on our entertaining needs.
Keeping it real….. anyone who blogs and owns a fur baby knows that they will always photo bomb if you get your camera out!
So much for fluffing the pillows and trying to make the sofa look nice. Our fur baby Milly was quick to jump up on ‘her’ sofa, push the pillows off and climb up onto her favourite to watch me taking photos…. but she is a sweet old girl, so we’ll pretend she’s not there.
Merry Christmas!
Hugs

It’s all so very beautiful. I always adore a winter wonderland theme. It’s so peaceful. Merry Christmas! Jo
Oh Kerry Anne I love it all. That angel above your mirror has me swooning. What a cozy and bright and beautiful decor you have added to this room. Love it all.
Hugs,
Kris
Everything looks so magical and wintery – love Miss Milly
It’s all so “cool” and magical and twinkly!! Love the aqua and white… I’ve never had an (almost) all white Christmas and would love to some day. I would put pops of pink in of course! Love the flocked trees and pine cones too…. I’ve thought of maybe flocking our old (worn out) faux tree this year as hope to get a new one next year! Touches of white “snow” look so wonderful and fun. Your home is just beautiful! Marilyn
Your home looks beautiful. You are very artistic. I love your colour palette [spelling?] I’m doing my best, but there is only me here and I’m not well. It’s hard to get motivated. I do have family, but it’s not the same. You cheer me up always.
It is so refreshing to see all the shades of white, gray and green! My current colors are cranberry, white, gray and dark green, and I’ve been having some trouble finding items to add to my collection. After seeing a beautiful Wintery display at Cracker Barrel, I’ve be considering changing to a Winter Wonderland Christmas, and I can see that fitting in with your tour. Pinning for inspiration – thank you, it’s beautiful!
It felt refreshing to me too this year Alexandra. I try different colour schemes in various rooms every Christmas, but paring back to simplicity and neutrals this year was perfect for us. The added bonus with this heatwave we’ve been experiencing, is that is feels cooler than red would have. So glad you found inspiration in my home.
Merry Christmas x
peaceful, beautiful & I feel blessed that you share your home & family, at this time of year; Happy Holidays, from eastern Canada. we’re having a bit of snow today, but it’s cold. Stay safe & warm.
Thank you for stopping by and taking a wander with me around our Christmas home Sue.
It’s been very warm here in Australia, but cooling down a little for Christmas day, which will be a relief.
Merry Christmas x
