Yesterday I shared with you a few sneak peeks from my craft room.
Did you guess what it was?
Here’s the finished result…. I made my collage into a ‘scraps’ bag.
Up until now, I had all my loose scraps in a bulging plastic shopping bag.
I keep even the tiniest of scraps to use in other projects.
So I can hang the bag on the side of my desk while I’m crafting, I attached a little ribbon loop hook inside the top of the bag. Now I can pop in my leftovers as I’m crafting.
The bag has a gathered top and a ribbon tie to close it when not in use.
I make all kinds of things with my leftovers, like the scrap bag yesterday.
Here’s another quick and easy DIY using nothing but leftover bits of fabric, ribbon and lace from my scraps bag.
(pin now to use later)
Materials:
Wire coat hanger and wire cutters,
Pieces of scrap fabric – I used muslin, osnaberg, linen, tulle, ribbon and lace.
Instructions:
Open coat hanger. Cut a length of wire – size dependent on your required finished size. Secure into a circle. I shaped mine around a large coffee jar.
Rip fabrics into strips. I made one to gauge the size and then cut all the rest to the same length.
Tie strips to wire frame until the whole frame is filled.
I tied a long strip of fabric at the top of the wreath to create a hanger. The last step was to make a matching fabric bow. I even found a cute pearl rhinestone button to attach to the center of the bow.
It’s also the perfect spot for one of my owls to perch!!
A scrappy little wreath can be made in any colour and size and is such a fun, quick and easy project.
Happy crafting
♥

Such a pretty bag Kerryanne and so useful.
Love the wreath made from scraps – the fact you have kept to neutral colours gives a very effective look to the finished piece.

I love your pretty bag made with scraps and the little owl sitting in the scrap wreath is cute too.
Just goes to show what you can create with just scraps.

Love your “scrap bag” Kerryanne, such a cool idea. The wreath made from scraps is beautiful and would look so lovely hanging in a craft room. Hope to make these soon as I have a few of your beautiful projects. Thank you Shirley

I love the wreath with the little owl! I like the scrap bag too. I keep tiny scraps to make miniature quilts. I’ve been known to rescue tiny scraps from the trash….
