As summer winds down here and we see just a tiny hint that autumn may be arriving soon, it appears too that the peek season at the resort may also be coming to an end.
That of course means I’ll be spending part of each day back in my studio and I couldn’t be happier.
I’ve been using my creative time to design, plan and source products ready for the avalanche of creativeness that’s about to hit the Woodberry Designs Studio.

Sometimes having a break from your usual creative outlet or having limited creative time is good for your mojo… I can tell you, my mind is buzzing with new ideas.
One of the questions that I’m often asked as a designer is “what comes first; the supplies or the design”… and it is a great question.
It works both ways actually!
I’ve recently been working with my lovely sponsors Shabby Fabrics to come up with some fun free projects to feature here on my blog for you. They were generous enough to let me go shopping in their gorgeous online shop…. oh my goodness, it was fabric heaven.
I shopped with a few design ideas in mind, and quickly found beautiful fabrics for those projects. But, I was also inspired by some other fabrics… so hit the drawing board again and designed even more projects.
So…. while it is good to have a project plan, sometimes for creativity sake, you need to just enjoy the shopping and let the fabric/supplies talk to you.
The lovely folk at Shabby Fabrics actually have a very generous offer for the readers of Shabby Art Boutique and Simply Shabbilicious… simply pop on over to their online store at www.ShabbyFabrics.com, have a browse and if you see something you like, they’ll give you 10% off your first order. Don’t forget to use the special offer code of ‘SHABBY10’.
I recommend while you are there, that you check out their extensive collection of fabrics and other goodies.
They have a really sweet blog too at The Shabby

I’ll be back soon with some crafty goodness!

What a coincidence! I just posted a blog post today with a link to Shabby Fabrics. LOVE their fabrics… 🙂
And I agree with your mojo tip, Kerryanne. I used to study classical music, and I found that I made leaps in improvement when I took some time off. 🙂
