For those of us who favour a shabby or farmhouse neutral colour palette, changing the decor with the seasons can be as easy as hanging a pretty layered banner.
I included a basic set of banner pennants in this month’s Anderson’s Family Farm kit for the Handmade Club and thought I’d share with you today how I added elements to this set to create a fall banner for my own home.
How to make a Shabby Farmhouse Fall banner
I love to layer my elements when paper crafting…. it adds dimension and interest.
With the exception of the pink roses, all other printables used in this banner are in this month’s Handmade Club kit. I supply all kit graphics as transparent png files, which can be resized.
When I took these photos my room was bathed in afternoon sunlight, so I apologise that my images appear a little washed out.
First I decided which elements I wanted to use from the kit. There are lots to choose from!
Then I printed them on matt photo paper using my home printer. The paper was quite thick, so I didn’t need to mount them on card.
I used a sharp scalpel and metal ruler to cut them out.
The fun part is mixing and matching, layering and re-positioning until you have each banner pennant ready.
I added in a few other elements… like vintage doilies, buttons and paper flowers.
When I had all the pennants finished, I used a hole punch to make holes for hanging, but they could be pegged to a string garland instead.
I joined all my pennant pieces together with ripped and frayed strips of muslin.
You can make your banner as short or long as you like, but just remember, that odd numbers always look better than even numbers.
How to make Printable Seed Packets
I had a couple of ladies ask me how to make the seed packets that are included in the kit.
It’s actually very quick and easy. Simply print your seed packets (two will fit on a page) and then cut them out.
Score the 4 edges of the front panel design (brown pumpkin graphic on this one) and then fold the 4 tabs to the back of the image.
Use some white glue or double-sided tape to form the flaps into an envelope.
If you are not a member of the Handmade Club and would like to know more about how the club operates, you can read more HERE on my Handmade Club page.
This months kit, Andersons’ Family Farm will be available until 14th September 2019.
If you have made your own shabby fall banner, I’d love to see it!!
Happy crafting my friends!!

Hello, could you tell me where I can find the flowers to decorate. Thank you.
Kerryanne says
Hi Maria, some of the embellishments I used in this banner, like the flowers and doilies etc are from my own private collection. There are pretty pink flowers within this months kit that you can cut out.
Happy crafting,
Kerryanne
