I’m smitten with all things Scandinavian…
Especially their gorgeous homewares.
I’m a collector of GreenGate ceramics… I lust after IB Laursen…
And one of those large Maileg Bunnies takes pride of place at the top of my shabbilicious wish list.
I won’t be getting a Maileg bunny anytime soon,
So I sufficed with a little homemade version of a mini Maileg bunny.
She’s not perfect….
I’m not even sure if the dimensions are correct…
But I LOVE her just the same!
She’s hanging out today amongst my GreenGate collection in the kitchen,
But she’s equally at home in my crafting studio too.
Isn’t it amazing that a brand that started out as a child’s toy manufacturer has become such a loved and inherent part of Scandinavian interior design.
Those Danish are a clever lot and definitely leading the way in Scandinavian design with their simplicity, clean lines and gorgeous colours.
If you are not familiar with these brands, you can check out their catalogues here ~ GreenGate catalogue, Maileg Catalogue and IBLaursen catalogue.
Along with many other people, I’m looking forward to the day that these lovely brands are readily available in stores here in Australia, but until then I’ll have to be content with online purchases and the odd homemade look-a-like.
I’m sharing my version of the Maileg bunny with these friends this week:
Inspiration Exchange, The DIY Dreamer, The Scoop, Project Inspired , French Country Cottage, Be Inspired Friday at Common Ground, Sundays at Home.

she’s just adorable, love her doilie and tulle dress!
Thanks Debra. I don’t think I’ll ever run out of things to use my vintage doilies for…. it did make for a cute little dress!

She’s adorable! And I love your Greengate bowls… espeically the one with the roses. Gorgeousness! 🙂
xo,
Lin
Thanks Lin. You probably already know that I’m a bit partial to anything GreenGate. 🙂
I just adore her Kerryanne, she’s perfect!
Thank you Christine 🙂
The bunny is adorable! Love the displays! They look so fun and whimsical.
Thank you LuAnn. My little Maileg look-a-like is still moving around the house. It’s become a bit of a game to see where someone places her next. I think eventually she’ll come to live in my studio 🙂
Very sweet little lady!
I think so too Clairelynn. Sometimes it is simplicity that makes an item beautiful 🙂
Oh Kerryanne, you did an amazing job – this bunny is adorable! She fits right in amongst the cute Greengate collection. I’ll have to check these brands out. Thank you!
Thank you Susan. I know you’ll love all those Danish brands… enjoy the eye candy.
Hugs ~ Kerryanne
Awwww she is adorable and she seems perfect. Hugs, Beverly
Thanks Beverly. She was fun to make too 🙂
I love this style of decorating too. I have seen some Greengate products at the Sunshine Coast when on holidays but don’t know of anywhere to get their goodies here in Brisbane. That bunny is so beautiful!
Best wishes,
Natasha in Oz
PS My weekly Say G’day linky party is on now and I would be thrilled if you could share your post. Please pop over if you have a minute to spare.
There’s very little GreenGate here in Australia Natasha and no one has the full range unfortunately. Denmark seems to have all the lovely brands… maybe we need a Danish distributor to get us stocked up. Thanks for visiting and I’ll definitely pop over and check out your party 🙂
She is perfect! Do you by chance have a tutorial or pattern for your maileg bunnies?
She is so lovely! I love the one you made including her dress and sweet little shoes. I have planned to make one for myself, too. Thank you for the patterns. <3
I may even try crochet a little shawl for her. Thank yo for all your inspiration and shares.
Happy Easter.
