I enjoy having a cottage style kitchen… it has plenty of charm and always feels so welcoming.
The cottage style is so easy to implement and can definitely be done on a tight budget.
So, today I’m sharing 5 ways I’ve added cottage charm to my kitchen.
Open shelves allow you to showcase your wares… crockery, cutlery, quirky collectibles etc.
This is an area you can change around as often as you like… which happens to be a lot for me!
The eclectic mix of pretty colours and mix and match china (stoneware) give a cottage kitchen such a cozy feel.
Try mixing florals, polka dots and checks for added character. Shown here are beautiful pieces from my Greengate collection.
Fresh flowers add texture and interest in my kitchen.
Sometimes I hang a posy of fresh picked herbs or a bunch of spring onions.
Even a simple sprig of hydrangea placed in a mug can add a pretty detail to open shelves.
White cabinets are a perfect backdrop for a cottage kitchen.
I added some extra pizzazz to mine by labeling my drawers using lettering I cut on my Silhouette.
Don’t we all love chalkboards!!
I have mine on the side of a cabinet, where it doubles as a notice board and a fun backdrop to open shelves and a hang rail.
All of these steps to creating a kitchen with cottage charm are easy and budget friendly,
so don’t be frightened to give it a try.

Thank you Linda 🙂
I love all of your cottage charm! most especially LOVE the little wood houses in your first image! My colors are pink and green.. to me that is COTTAGE… and maybe throw in a little bit of aqua. The chalkboard is such a cute idea as well as the open shelves.
Did you know Marilyn that there is a tutorial on how to make the little wood houses on my Tutorials page 🙂
Thank you! I will go take and look and try to make some. Just love them!
You always give me ‘food for thought’ Kerryanne.
Your cottage ideas are lovely and I always enjoy seeing your pretty collections & displays.

I just LOVE all the pink touches everywhere Kerryanne !
Gorgeous !
Loved all your suggestions….but yes having white cabinets would be nice for a cottage kitchen, but one can have it without white cabinets. I k now I have one.
I totally agree Cathy. These are just my tips on how I achieve a cottage look, but definitely just an indication of what you can do. 🙂
Nice tips, thank you. The colours are lovely and everything looks fresh 🙂
