As we enter week two of the school holidays, I continue to do the working mummy juggle… but I fear all expectations of actually achieving anything in the studio this week may well be lost. Once you accept that inevitable, it is easier to cope with the taxi runs, noise levels, catering and hip pocket draining. Hhmm…. I wonder what the world’s CEO’s are doing?? I recon working mums could show them a thing or two about multi tasking – and we do it on a budget!!!
Here on the mid north coast, we are being spoilt at present with the most beautiful winter weather. Sunny blue skies and today’s predicted top of 22 degrees will surely see us down at the beach for some beachcombing and walking with the camels. It feels so weird wearing a t-shirt in winter and seeing kids swimming at the beach; quite different to what we were used to in Melbourne.
When I do get a chance to work in the studio, I’m putting the final touches to this….
With constant interruptions and distractions the Christmas Collection has taken longer than expected to finalise, but now I have set a date for release which I think fitting, given we celebrate Christmas in July on this date here in the southern hemisphere. I’m also filming a new Christmas painting E-course, preparing for term 3 classes and doing studio visits for new students. Busy, busy, busy!!! Oh how I look forward to school going back next week, just so I can slow down a bit (not to mention the peace and serenity) LOL.
I’m participating in Clare’s Tuesday Treasures today – pop on over to here to check out all the other treasures. This is one of my many treasures….
A beautiful antique rocking chair. I’m not sure how old it is but I do know that long before I rocked my babies to sleep in it, it was used by several generations of my family. She’s a bit old and creaky these days, her woven seat is wearing and her arm rests have worn thin, so she is now home to some of my old bears. I have such glorious memories of rocking my girls to sleep in front of the open fire on cold nights and sometimes sitting in the rocker on the balcony, catching a cool breeze in summer. I’m trying to preserve her now, so one day when there is a new generation of babies, I can be the grandma with the special rocking chair.
Hugs ~ Kerryanne
Sounds like you are just surviving the school holidays.
How wonderful that one day you will be the Grandma with the special rocking chair.

I love that rocking chair with all its happy memories , thanks for playing .
A rocker–how lovely!!! A real treasure. 🙂
I have just found your blog and enjoyed my visit
Hey Kerryanne! Can’t wait to see your Christmas cuties … love that little teaser, by the way! :0) And what a wonderful treasure you’ve shared with us, a wonderful legacy to pass on to your daughters. This chair has stood the test of time … just like a mother’s love. Bears are very good at guarding treasures, too, so your chair is in good hands … er … bottoms! :0) Bear Hugs! KRIS
A beautiful rocker! About 6 years ago my mother moved out of her house and offered me the rocker that she used for me and my sister. It was a pretty ugly chair with carved animal heads in the top – I wasn’t as able to see the beauty in things then and I declined. I think she gave it away or threw it away. Now this makes me sad! I know your kids will think differently than I did!

I have the same rocker only it doesn’t have the turned legs , they are just flat , not sure that makes sense but I love the rocker and ours has had lots of use as well .
I am very jealous of your weather, its freezing down here. Love that rocking chair,
alicia
