I won’t be offended this week if you call me ‘fickle’….
Because in truth, my craft room could be suffering from an identity crisis with the amount of changes that have been undertaken in the past few months.
I started the year with a freshen up after the Christmas mayhem and restored my pretty craft room back to her full ‘shabbilicious’ aqua gorgeousness.
Then in February I gave her a mini make-over and wallpapered two walls with this beautiful photo mural of shabby pastel wood planks.
I simply adore this shabby paper design…..
But a few weeks later I wasn’t sure that it was perfect for my craft room.
It felt kind of busy with the paper competing with the general chaos of lots of crafting supplies and projects cluttering the craft room.
Such a dilemma…. one I sat on for a couple of months.
I truly loved this paper and didn’t want to destroy it by removing it from the walls, but I was also no longer enjoying the vibe of my creative space.
I shared my concerns with the members of my Facebook group, Simply Shabbilicious…. hoping they might help me decide what I should do, but they were pretty evenly split between leaving the paper and removing it.
So I thought about it some more… until one day last week I just decided that this was the day that I’d remove the paper and return to my pretty aqua walls.
And here we are… we’ve come full circle!
Ahhhh…. the calmness has been restored!!
This beautiful wall colour is Seafoam – quarter strength by Dulux.
It’s truly my favourite craft room colour for creating a relaxing and calming work space.
An interesting thing happened when I was removing the wallpaper.
I gently pried the wallpaper from the wall until I had a full width section of one of the panels lifted off the wall.
Then I began to pull it slowly out from the wall until the whole panel of paper suddenly ‘popped’ off of the wall.
That panel of wallpaper was completely intact!
So next I tried it on another panel and when it too came away without any damage to the paper, I started removing and rolling up the panels one by one.
I had a new plan!
I was going to re-use that pretty wallpaper in my guest bedroom, where it could be the star of the room and not compete for attention with an overly busy craft room.
Once the wallpaper was removed, I simply washed the paste residue off of the walls with warm soapy water and the Seafoam paint underneath was once again restored to its original pristine condition.
The peaceful craft room vibe has returned once again….. even the Foxie Ladies are feeling relaxed.
I appreciate how lucky I am to have such a beautiful space to work in each day.
It truly makes my shabby heart happy ♥
Happy crafting my friends,
Hugs

I did love that wood look wallpaper.. but I think I DO like the aqua a little better.. .so that all your wonderful goodies and shabbies can stand out! I’m amazed that the paint underneath was still intact! I just love your room.. and love that color. My craftroom is a bright yellow (was here when we moved in 4 years ago) and although it’s bright and cheerful, sometimes it’s just too much. My bedroom is pink…. I think the aqua color would look wonderful in my craftroom! but would be a nightmare to paint it as EVERYTHING is against the walls.. it may just stay yellow! Happy crafting! Marilyn
I love your craft room but I am happy that the paper is gone too. Awesome that you could save it for another room so nothing lost; but calm and beautiful room regained. Enjoy my friend. You deserve it. The Foxie Ladies are just so adorable!!
Have a lovely week! Hugs, JoeyAnn
I liked that paper but I understand your need for “peace and quiet” as the details of the room are busy and colorful. What makes you happy is what counts!
I am just in love with the new room colour. All those pastel colours just make my heart sing.
I like the uncluttered look of the wall one color better. But I am sure you will find a use for that lovely wall paper. It would be great to put on the fronts of drawers or the back of a china cabinet. It is lovely. Happy crafting.
I love the softness of the colors. Even your craft supplies are calming.
I think you made the right choice to remove the wallpaper. I think the calm walls are much classier as well as calmer. The color is luscious!
Sometimes it is just trial and change! I have been where you are many times. I love the wood panel wallpaper so I am glad you have another place for it. I have to agree with you it took away from all your beautiful crafts. I have always loved your creative space. So pretty and shabby terrific in there. Have a great rest of the week.
Hugs,
Kris
Your craft room is so calm & peaceful.
I can only dream…just beautiful.
Everything you do is always gorgeous Kerryanne…the walls WITH the paper AND the walls WITHOUT the paper??? Especially love the peacefulness of the one color walls though??? Your craft room is just beautiful as well as fun and functional??? Have you ever done a tutorial on how you recovered your rolling desk chair…I love what you’ve done to it??? Thank you for sharing with us Kerryanne??? Smiles, Deborah ???
Seafoam and pink is my favorite color combo and your room is beautiful! The stripe was too busy and all your crafty things disappeared into the wall. Solid color makes your pretties pop!
