The sign is up on the studio door…….
Woodberry Designs is officially closed for the next 3 weeks while the English family head north to Port Macquarie, NSW, for a much needed break.
Work has kept me busy right to the last minute so now we are rushing around packing. I’m usually one of those anal people who start packing several weeks before hand and pack everything including the kitchen sink. I like to be prepared for every possible catastrophe.
Well…..not this time. It’s all a bit rushed and unorganised and I’m sure I will forget some vitally important, can’t live without item.
Aimee my 10 year old was thrilled to inform me that she had packed her own bags. Sure enough, when I went up to her room there were two bags ready to go. She put up quite a protest when I insisted on checking she had everything. To my surprise, the larger of the two bags did not contain clothing but instead, her most important holiday treasures: PlayStation & games, Nintendo DS & games, books, DVDs etc. The little back pack apparently had all the clothes she considered necessary: PJ’s, Bathers, one set of clothes and 15 pairs of knickers. I asked why so many knickers to which she replied “Oh mum, you said you were going to rest and not do anything so I bought a pair for every day so you don’t have to wash”. Got to love that logic – she would have had plenty of knickers but I don’t think the one set of clothes would have stretched the 2 weeks.
Now the ‘Princess’ on the other hand has the opposite problem. She wants to take everything in her wardrobe because…. “apparently I wouldn’t understand but she needs plenty of variety”……..oh I hate that teenage angst. As her father is not considering mounting pack racks or towing a trailer to accommodate her massive amount of luggage, she will just have to re-think her clothing requirements.

The only unfrazzled ‘person’ in our home tonight is Gypsy – my fury child. She knows something is up and has been my shadow all day. She reclined on the bed in each room as I tried to keep control over our frantic household. I did catch her here, dozing off for a minute or two. She needn’t stress, I have ‘Gypsy sitters’ staying here with her while we are away. I hope she enjoys the peace and tranquility that will engulf our home in our absence.
While considering the chaos and dis-order in my house tonight I came to the conclusion that the male of the house has it pretty good when it comes to holiday preparations. My ‘man of the house’ only needed to have the car serviced. When he got home tonight he packed one bag for himself whilst I cooked tea and proclaimed that he didn’t know what all the fuss was about.
Aaaggh……..I think I need a holiday!!
So my cyber friends, I will catch up with you in a few weeks when I have had my sanity dose of sun, beach, fresh air, relaxation and downtime.
Hugs,
Kerryanne
Have a wonderful holiday Kerryanne, see you when you get back. Just remember if you forget to pack it, you can always buy something when you get there (has worked a few times with us in terms of toothbrushes etc)

Kerryanne I know you are going to have a wonderful holiday away, I love it up where you are going, even if you don’t have sunny beach weather it doesn’t matter, you will enjoy your “time out”. I think the last minute bustle makes the actual time away all the more special. What a bonus not to have to worry about your special fluffy friend.
Glad you picked up on my little whinge about the gesso, I will try the one you suggested with pleasure!
Look forward to hearing your holiday report once you’re back
Hi Kerryanne what a fun holiday you will have at Port Macquarie. We are heading up there in a month for the Iron Man Race. Max is competing in the race again this year. So no doubt you will see the setting up of the course. The event seems to take over the town.
It is such a great place.
Have fun
Alison
