My dream for the magazine Simply Shabbilicious is to share all the things that make our shabby hearts sing. . .
. . . beautiful homes, pretty vignettes, shopping wish lists, crafting tutorials, recipes and the amazing people that represent all that is shabbilicious.
I feel quite blessed to be able to meet these people virtually and get to know them through the process of putting the magazine pages together.
For the current issue I conversed quite a bit with Marijke van Ooijen and I can tell you she is such a sweet lady. She is a married mother of 3 and grandma to beautiful baby Sophie.
Marijke is Dutch, but also speaks English, so we were able to chat with little effort. Originally I was doing a story about her beautiful studio space. . .
. . . but once I got to meet the inhabitants of her studio I knew the story must be about them. They are whimsical and romantic with touches of vintage gorgeousness.
Marijke is a doll artist who sculpts her original designs by hand, using Polymer clay.
Her studio is alive with bears, rabbits, mice, elephants and dogs. . . all exquisite in their detail.
Every doll is an original and no two can ever be identical.
Marijke uses vintage haberdasheries to add that old world charm to her creations and the effect is ‘shabbiliciously’ gorgeous.
Her designs are not limited to only doll making. Marijke also makes beautiful vintage fabric creations. . . like these divine shoe pincushions, which were featured in her book Marijke’s Beautiful Musings.
The world really is a small place now and I feel blessed to have made a new creative friend over on the other side of the world.
I can highly recommend a visit to Marijke’s Blog and Website where you can purchase her beautiful creations.
And if you haven’t yet read the latest issue of Simply Shabbilicious,

Until next time,
