I haven’t had a heap of creative time lately, so when I do get some ‘ME’ time, I turn to smaller creative projects that I have more likelihood of finishing.
Handmade cards are the perfect ‘quick’ project…
and the added bonus is, I’m building up a nice collection of greeting cards for the year.
This card is a little more fancy than my average card…
But it’s for a very special friend.
This card is a pot of flowers and the flower part is actually a removable tag that you write your greeting on.
To start, I cut a strip measuring 30 cm x 12 cm (12” x 5”) from a scrapbook page.
Next I scored lines at 4 cm and 17 cm. I folded the larger sections in half on the score line (floral area), forming the pot section. Then I folded the remaining smaller part the opposite way to form the flap.
To make the pot shape, I trimmed each side of the card so that the top of the pot remained12 cm wide, but the bottom was only 8cm wide.
I sewed a free motion stitch around the 3 edges of the card (keeping the top open and the turnover section free), which formed a pocket.
A little lace along the pot turnover edge adds a sweet shabby touch.
I stamped a greeting on some pretty coordinating paper from the same range and then cut out the rectangle, added eyelets and attached it to the top of the pot with pink ribbon.
The tag was cut and trimmed to fit inside the pot. I decorated the top of the tag with a paper doily, some Tilda cut-outs, white paper flowers and pearls.
The papers I used for this card are from the Corner Shop Collection by Tilda and are sold in a paper pad containing 24 double sided papers. There are many other coordinating items available in this range, which can be seen in my Boutique.
I’m sharing my card with the following friends this week:
Inspiration Exchange, The DIY Dreamer, The Scoop, Project Inspired , French Country Cottage, Be Inspired Friday at Common Ground

Thank you Toni. I don’t think the photos show the true colour… the paper is a lovely greyish mauve with the sweetest petite pink flowers. I loved working with it.
