Welcome friends,
Come on in to the craft room. This week I’ve been making a few seasonal changes with fall décor.
Over the years, I’ve embraced a variety of fall colour schemes…. everything from mauve and blues to the softest greens and pinks, and always with an emphasis on pretty and shabby.
This year I’ve gathered together a colour palette of my pretty pastel pink supplies, accented with gold leaves and pops of burgundy. As I was putting it all together, I realised that it would transcend effortlessly into a pretty cottage Christmas come November.
Before someone corrects me, I’ll add in a disclaimer here…. it is not actually fall here in Australia right now.
We are in fact enjoying a sunny, warm spring, however, as my work online mainly caters to a northern hemisphere market, I work on fall projects at this time of the year. For many years now, I have also decorated my craft room and parts of my house for fall and winter at this time.
Decorating for Fall
I started in the craft room by removing everything from the top of my IKEA Kallax units.
Bit by bit, I added things back in…..
Tall pots of faux eucalyptus greens and berry vines, which added a pop of bold burgundy.
I painted a collection of dried leaves I gathered from my local park, with a thin layer of shimmery gold paint.
This is a subtle accent, but I found that the shimmery leaves popped more than the plain dried ones and it really lifted the overall look of the vignette.
On the rear wall I added sheets of overlapping vintage papers; receipts, letters and vintage ephemera that were printable papers from various Handmade Club kits.
I always enjoy featuring my Foxie Ladies at this time of year, so two of ‘my girls’ are included in this craft room vignette.
You can find out how I made the Foxie Ladies HERE.
Next I added in crafting essentials like a basket filled with mini bolts of fabric and rolls of ribbon.
I also included my new faux patchwork pumpkin coasters and trio of fabric pumpkins.
There are tutorials for making both of these projects HERE.
The pennant and pumpkin banner was a project that was included in the current Handmade Club kit, Woodland Whimsy.
I simply printed the PDF on card, cut out the elements and strung them on several strands of ripped up muslin (calico). For some added texture, I attached a few fusyy-cut maple leaves and berries from the kit. The banner is simple, shabby and subtle, but a nice nod to fall.
When creating a vignette, it’s good to combine a variety of colours, patterns and textures to create interest…. so for another added texture I made a cute crocheted ivory pumpkin.
I used this pattern to make it and I can honestly say, it is such a quick and easy project…. and it is SUPER cute!
The pumpkin is made from a crocheted flat panel that is sewn together and then gathered top and bottom…. easy peasy!!
As a finishing touch, I added a sprig of faux berries and leaves to the top of the pumpkin.
I enjoy changing the décor of my craft room with the seasons. Not only does it invigorate my work space, it also gives my creative mojo a boost.
I don’t know about you, but I find it inspiring to be surrounded by my pretty crafting supplies and handmade projects.
Do you make seasonal changes to your creative space?
Thanks for popping in to take a look at my fall craft room.
Happy crafting my friends!

Such a great little tour or your craft room, Kerryann. I love the pops of bright burgundy amongst the soft pastels and gold shimmers. You Fox Ladies are darling. Might have to have a go at those. I am working on a bright orange, yellow, red, green bunting at the moment but my fingers are twitching to get into the latest Woodland Whimsy kit. Thanks for all you do, you inspire and speak joy.
