I’ll tell you a funny story…. it started with a bunch of blush pink roses.
You know the ones you walk past at the supermarket and you think ‘wow, what a pretty colour’…. and then you happen to wheel your trolley past them again a few minutes later and you know those pink roses need to come home with you!
So into my trolley they went and while I wandered up and down the aisles, I day-dreamed about ways I could use these beautiful blooms. I mean, these roses were perfect. They were the exact pink that I’ve recently fallen in love with… they deserved something special!
By the time I got home I had it all planned…. a beautiful lunch table with a line of jars in the centre. Each jar would be decorated with a vintage rose label and of course, a blush pink rose.
I had the jars, so I just needed to create a collection of vintage labels. The roses went in to a vase of water in the kitchen while I got to work designing the labels. Everything was set to create my sweet lunch table the following day.
Except…. unbelievably, the following morning each of my roses in that perfect shade of blush pink had drooped. Seriously… every one of them dropped their little bud head and wilted.
I had to rethink the vintage label jars!!!
Not all crafting projects have to be labour intensive to look beautiful. I put this one together in just 10 minutes.
I used a variety of glass jars and even a water flask.
You can pick up jars and old bottles really cheap at thrift stores and op shops.
Download my free Vintage Labels A4 printable HERE.
I suggest printing on matt photo paper on your home computer or take the file to a print shop.
To assemble, cut labels from sheet using a paper cutter, craft knife or scissors.
For an aged look, you might even want to tear the labels out.
After making sure my glass jars were clean, I adhered my labels using Gel Medium.
This is my affiliate link to the one I use Liquitex Matte Gel Medium
Tip: Always apply gel to both surfaces (in this instance, glass and back of label), so that you can move the object around a little to get the position correct.
To protect the label, I also painted the front of the label with gel medium.
In just 10 minutes, I transformed these old jars into a sweet table centre piece.
In the absence of my pretty blush roses, I picked these white flowers which were growing wild beside a creek where I walk in the mornings…. I suspect they may even be weeds, but they are still lovely.
As it turned out, the wild flowers were a cheery addition to the table and now I have a collection of vintage labelled jars ready for when I bring the next bunch of perfect blush pink roses home.

You are so generous as well as a very nice lady to share your lovely talents with us. I am so thrilled with these labels, will be digging in my glass container collection tomorrow and putting these gorgeous labels on my glass. Might even go buy myself some flowers to do the labels justice.
Those white flowers you used are so pretty, ,look similar to “lily of the valley,” .love them. You have a great eye for weeds if that’s what they are, lol.
Thank you so very much, perfect for Spring flowers.
Happy daze

Thank you gorgeous JaneEllen. My weeds are about the size of a Lily of the Valley bud, but the plant looks more like a Forget-me-not except it was 5′ tall.
I hope you enjoy making the vintage label jars as much as I did Jane Ellen. xx

I’m so sad about your roses…but confess it has happened to me before too. Oh my, the heart does droop along with the precious rosebuds. 🙁
But the labels…aah. Love them. No drooping there.
Kerryanne says
Thankfully, I at least got some pretty jars to keep for another day. I have to admit Jen, I was sad and then ticked off at Coles. I suspect many of us have fallen victim to the supermarket rose drooping fiasco (lol) and while I never have great expectations of flowers from the supermarket, I had hoped for a few days for my $10 bunch. Oh well, my free-range florals from the creek bed have lasted all week. Hope you have a great weekend my friend xx

THANKS for sharing the vintage labels…..perfect for quick birthday party decoration. You’re always so generous sharing your art, and it makes me happy to see it.
Kerryanne says
Aww… how sweet of your Sammi, thank you!
It makes me happy when others enjoy my creative projects and you are right, these jars take just minutes to assemble and you can have a pretty table with little fuss and expense. 🙂

Thanks Kerryanne! What a wonderful idea! Your labels are so beautiful and thanks to you several glass jars have been rescued from my recycling bin for a second chance. Your wildflower bouquet is lovely and will probably last longer too!
Kerryanne says
Isn’t this just thrifting at its best Vicky… and I know your jars will be beautiful. My little wildflower posies have been so pretty and lasted longer than I thought they would… unlike those naughty roses. I know they were only grocery store roses, but you expect to get more than 24 hours out of them 🙁
Hope you have a fabulous weekend sweetie xx

So glad you like them Jo. It is such an easy way to add some gorgeousness to a plain jar or bottle.
Hope you have fun with this project xx

These are beautiful, thank you so much.
I’ve had roses do that too, sometimes they last and last and other times it’s all over much too quickly. You’re wild flowers are just beautiful so all’s well that ends well!
