Hi creative friends,
Let’s talk craft rooms… it’s a topic we all seem to love.
I’ve been a bit slow in sharing the changes I made when I took the Christmas decorations down in January… and then I decided last week to add in some more storage and swap a few things around.
I’ve had a huge clean up too…. because something very, VERY special is being delivered for the craft room this weekend and I can’t wait to show you what it is.
So please, come on in….
If you are new here, let me show you around. This room has it’s own entrance at the front of our home and is actually one half of my craft room and studio space. Prior to us moving in here 2 years ago, this section of our house was a beauty salon with two large rooms measuring 10 meters x 4 metres (33 feet x 13 feet), plus it has a kitchenette and bathroom attached.
I won’t lie…. it was a big factor in us buying this particular house. I did humour my hubby and looked at a few other homes, but I always knew we were going to buy this one!
I have two work stations in this room; the large table for crafting and the smaller sewing table in the corner.
Having a separate sewing table has certainly meant that I sew more than I used to and that’s a good thing.
All the storage in my craft room is from IKEA and these KALLOX units are definitely the best craft storage I’ve had in the 30 years of having studio spaces.
The unit on this wall has all of my crafting and sewing supplies…. every box is labelled and everything is easy to find.
I love that the top area of the units offers a large area to display and store all of my pretties.
Are you inspired when you are surrounded by your handmade pretties?
I certainly am… it makes this my happy place and a pleasure to work in.
I’m currently working on a spring themed kit for the Handmade Club, so I’ve filled my room with flowers and my favourite…. bunnies!
I have storage tubs under my work bench for storing out of season items…. and I always smile when I bring the bunnies back out to play.
The storage unit on this wall houses all of my art supplies, but I needed more space to store paper crafts, so have added another 4 basket storage cube.
It sits nicely in front of the bi-fold doors that lead into the studio space. We use another door to access the studio, so this space is always a bit of a nothing area.
I brought my flowers out of storage and put them on display on top of the art unit…. now it feels like a flower market in spring.
In fact, I’ve added flowers around the entire room.
Summer has officially finished here this week, but in our sub-tropical climate it will remain hot for some time yet.
Fresh flowers don’t do well here because of the humidity… so with the air-con on and being surrounded by all these pretty and bright blooms, it really does feel like spring is blooming in the Shabby Art Boutique craft room.
Last month I created this new piece of art for the craft room…. you may have seen it in my Instagram stories.
It’s on the wall right opposite where I sit at the craft table and is a gentle reminder of why I do what I do.
I know that I may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but for those that do love what I do, it fills my heart with joy to share creativity and inspiration with you.
I’m so super EXCITED to share my special craft room
delivery with you next week….. [squeal].
So, until then, happy crafting my friends!
Hugs
♥

What an awesome place you have in which to be so creative! I must admit I am envious! I have had a craft room in many of our homes through the years, but none were as nice as yours! And now in our forever home (condo) alas that was one of the things we had to compromise on. But, it hasn’t kept me from crafting…I just have to be better at cleaning up after my crafting sessions at the table! Thanks for sharing your inspiring craft room!?
Thank you Donna. It truly isn’t the size of the craft room that makes your crafting experience. Having worked in the art field for over 30 years, I’ve worked in everything from large commercial studios to my kitchen table. It’s the creative journey that is important at the end of the day…. and true, it does take a bit more organisation to work out of a basket or in a small space, but it is doable. You have the added joy Donna of getting to craft with your grandchildren and that must be a true blessing.
Have fun my friend ~ Kerryanne
Simply beautiful…and how inspiring!!!

Simply stunning! It suits me to a T.
I would love to see inside the Ikea drawers and how you arrange things inside.
I always have good intentions, but strangely I can only find things if they are in a jumble!
Something is wrong with my brain. LOL! I love the thought of organization, but it doesn’t seem to work for me although I’m struggling with it as to be organized must be bliss. Thanks for these lovely photos. They are so cheery.
Thank you Loretta.
I always want to remind others that this is my workplace, so it needs to be inspiring and most importantly, functional. I could not run a business from a messy craft area. Of course my work tables get messy every week, but my supplies are always organised or I’d spend too much time trying to find things.
Inside my supply boxes is pretty much more of the same. I keep smaller items inside snap lock bags or containers. Ribbons, laces and trims are wound onto boards and my buttons are in an array of bottles and containers… mostly split up into colours.
I can honestly say that the small drawered units that are under my craft table are super handy for all those smaller supplies for e.g. I have separate drawers just for inks, punches, stamps, scrapbook embellishments etc. They’d get mixed up with and lost amongst a bigger storage container and I always know exactly where I can find something. That’s the real winner here when working.
I hope that explained it okay. Next time I take photos of my craft room I’ll share inside the boxes 🙂
Happy crafting,
Kerryanne
An absolutely beautiful craft room for one beautiful, precious, loving, sweet hearted and spirited lady! Thank you KerryAnne for all the lovely things you make out of your lovely craft room as it makes my environment a sweet and lovely place to be. Have a great day and stay safe.

Such a beautiful space! This morning I can feel a little chill in the air, looks like Autumn is on its way in Brisbane!
Thank you Nikki. I’m totally ready for an autumnal change… hasn’t it been a long hot summer!
Happy crafting lovely,
Kerryanne
Oooh sooo dreamy! Calming yet uplifting, inspiring, airy, whimsy, feminine, classy and super cohesive! I have been looking for a way to showcase my fabrics and may have to try to come up with a similar display. I definitely am inspired by seeing color and texture all around me. It’s a spring board for my brain to try yet another project! Bunnies make me so happy- ALL year! I’m Greek and it reminds me of my mom who passed in 2009. We celebrated both Catholic and Greek Orthodox Easter. It was super special when they didn’t fall on the same Sunday! More chocolate, more baklava, more spanakopita and the best part was MORE bunnies! I remember how she taught me how to sew my first material, stuffed bunny, when I had my daughter. I used my daughters teeny tiny drawstring sack as the bunny’s clothes! The pattern was so angelic, innocent and adorable. It reminds me of Peter Cottontail and Sarah Louise designs. Your room has that effect on me! Thank you for sharing your space and allowing us a peek of your haven!
Cannot wait to see what the delivery is! I love surprises!!
I’m so happy that you love the aesthetics of my craft room Jenn and that it speaks to your heart too. I love it for all of the same reasons. Oh Greek Easter is wonderful. Having grown up with a few Greek friends I’ve enjoy it too and loved the dying of the eggs… of course that appealed to my crafting heart as a kid, but the baked delights were yummy too!
Easter is not far away now, so I’ll wish yo a Happy Easter x
How truly amazing ! It must be wonderful working in such a beautiful room. What talent you have to decorate your working space so lovely. I think you have inspired all of us to work in a better organized space no matter how big or small it is. Congratulations….it is beautiful !
Such sweet and kind compliments Colleen… thank you sweetie.
Yes, size does not matter when crafting, as long as you are having fun.
Happy crafting,
Kerryanne
Thankyou for sharing your beautiful craft room. Love your bunnies & looking forward to seeing what next you have to show.
Oh my! Such a beautiful space! I would never leave lol. Especially with a bathroom and kitchenette.
Your beautiful rooms look as they do, not only FOR your creativity, but BECAUSE of it. You have made such an inspirational area in which to create. No wonder you produce such delicate and feminine kits. You are surrounded by creativity. Just lovely! And I especially love your bunnies. They hold a special place in my heart, too!
Beautiful, as are all your designs and creativity!
I have made a few Tilda pattern dolls from your inspirations, but see a bunny with long floppy ears in your room.
Do you have a pattern for it? Or a place to order the pattern? I’d love to add it to my collection:-)
Mary~
Hi Mary, thank you for your lovely comment.
I made that bunny some time ago and if memory serves me well, I think I was making a Tilda reindeer for a friend and I decided to adapt the pattern slightly to make a bunny for myself. I just added in the floppy ears where I would have normally put the reindeer ears. Often with these naïve kind of designs I just wing it. They are not true to life kind of patterns, so you can get away with almost anything. I’m happiest when I’m just cutting and hand sewing and trying out different things… I hope that inspires you to make a floppy eared bunny too 🙂
Kerryanne,
I have actually made the Tilda reindeers and the lambs, so I’ll see what I can come up with, using your adorable inspiration for the bunny!
Thank you for responding.
Mary~
This would be a dream for me, Kerryanne! to have such a beautiful, and creative space to work in. Thank you for sharing with us.
Dear Kerryanne:
What a glorious space you have created! That is how I want mine to look, but it never does. I think I will completely redo this space and divide the space into dedicated areas–sewing, paper creations, assemblage, collage–I have lots of interests! Thanks for giving us all the fruits of your inspiration. If I ever finish it, I will send pictures. Thank you!
Wow, your creative space is just lovely Kerryanne??? I love organization and yours is so peaceful, useful, creative, AND beautiful??? Thank you for the inspiration and beauty that you have so kindly shared with us Kerryanne??? Take care? Smiles, Deborah ????
Looks amazing and I can’t wait to see what’s being delivered 🙂
What a loving delight. I have just purchased a new home (on Coochiemudlo Island) with a special space for my craft. I am intending to use your room as setup and colour inspiration.
Cannot wait until settlement so I can get my creative juices into action.
Is there any chance you are going to share that beautiful pink poster you have created? It is my motto as well.
Bless you abundantly.
Your amazing artwork could only be as inspired as it is in this setting. I can’t imagine you working in any other place than in this bright, shabby, wonderland. I am super excited to see what you are doing in there next. Looking forward to seeing the new addition. (It’s a puppy, isn’t it? LOL) 🙂
