Hi creative friends,
It’s always such a joy to shine a light on the beautiful women who make our Craft Room community so special… and this month, I’m delighted to introduce you to our March Crafter of the Month, Debi Huntsman.

Debi joins us from Utah in the USA and brings with her a lifetime love of paper crafting, memory keeping, and heartfelt creativity.
Her story is one that I know so many of you will relate to…
A lifelong love of crafting
Debi’s creative journey began early, inspired by her mum who was an avid crafter and seamstress. Growing up surrounded by creativity, it’s no surprise that Debi found her own path in the craft world.
But it was scrapbooking, discovered over 30 years ago, that truly captured her heart.
“I love documenting our family memories for my children and grandchildren… for me, it all starts with paper.”
Over the years, her crafting has naturally evolved to include junk journaling, art journaling, and memory journaling, all beautifully rooted in storytelling and preserving precious moments.

An eclectic and expressive style
When asked to describe her style, Debi shared that it’s wonderfully eclectic… and I think that’s something many of us will smile at.
“I love pretty, pink, and frilly. I love grunge, vintage, bright and colorful… it all depends on my mood and the project.”
That freedom to create intuitively, guided by feeling rather than rules, is such a lovely way to approach crafting.

Treasured memories on every page
Debi’s most meaningful projects are the family scrapbooks she has created over the years… filled with moments both joyful and bittersweet.
“They hold our most precious memories as a family… and memories of our loved ones who are no longer with us.”
One of the most touching parts of her story is watching her grandchildren carefully turning the pages, discovering their father’s childhood through her work.
It’s a beautiful reminder of the legacy we create with our hands.

The quiet joy of fussy cutting
Like many of us in the Craft Room, Debi finds peace in the gentle rhythm of fussy cutting.
“I find it very relaxing, and I think I get some of my best ideas during that time.”
There’s something so calming about those quiet moments… scissors in hand, letting creativity unfold naturally.

Finding inspiration in community
Debi shared how much the Craft Room has encouraged her to step beyond journaling and try new ideas, supported by the kindness of the group.
“I really appreciate the positive support that is given in this group… I feel like I’m a part of something really special here.”
And that truly is what this space is all about.

A creative process we all recognise
Her description of a typical crafting session gave me a little smile… I think we’ve all been there!
Debi begins with a beautifully clean workspace… carefully gathering her supplies… until, before she knows it, she’s surrounded by creative chaos.
“…my work space is so small and crowded that I wonder how I ever get anything made.”
Isn’t it funny how creativity often thrives in that happy mess?

Craft room essentials (with a sweet twist)
Debi’s must-haves are simple and perfect:
- Her trusty Tim Holtz scissors for fussy cutting
- Plenty of pretty papers
- And space to create alongside her grandchildren, who love crafting in Gramma’s room
That last one might just be the most special of all. ♥

Looking ahead
While Debi is currently taking a little pause due to a family medical situation, her creative mind is already brimming with ideas…
“…my mind is racing with project ideas for April’s whimsical kit.”
We’re sending you lots of love, Debi, and look forward to seeing your beautiful creations when the time feels right again.
Thank you, Debi, for sharing your story with us and for being such a valued part of our Craft Room community. It truly is a joy to have you here. ♥
Happy crafting,
Hugs
♥
