Well…. can you believe it, here we are already in 2010!! A new year, a new decade.
Do you make a New Years resolution?
I’ve never really been one to make resolutions – probably because I know I’d never keep it. I always feel like the new year is a fresh start though. I like to get the Christmas decies down as soon as we celebrate new year (and lets face it, usually they start going up in our house sometime in November, so they’ve had a good run). Then I clean my house thoroughly… more of that fresh start business. Next I map out my year ahead… you have probably already picked up about 100 or so posts ago that I’m a bit of a list girl. Okay, BIG list girl…. move on.
I also like positive affirmations. Something to keep you strong, uplifted or a personal goal. My affirmation for last year features on this painting I did recently… ‘Always follow your dreams’.
It’s an affirmation that helped me move my life in a new direction last year. Definitely a good affirmation for 2009. My new one for 2010 is more of a positive statement that I can reflect on when needed.
I’ve been asked many times about the diva’s that feature in my paintings. I don’t have to look very far for inspiration…
Recognise that long curly hair and pouty lips? It’s not often we see that waist length curly hair out. Most often it is straightened and up in a sloppy bun. This is my ‘Princess Jess’ early on Christmas morning – a la natural. The painting in the background was a special gift I made for her.

It is painted on a 90 x 60 cm stretched canvas. Jess knew exactly what she wanted and has been planning it for quite some time. The elements that are grafittied on her ‘love bus’ are all things that reflect her life and beliefs. It is a completely personalized artwork. Jess had a lot of input as I was painting it too, which made the process… um, ‘interesting’!! We met somewhere in the middle and I think we got a piece of art we were both happy with. It’s now the feature in her new bedroom and looks great on her bright blue wall.

I’ve had an amazing creative streak this past week so I hope it continues. Being able to paint what I like when I like, is certainly very liberating right now. I’m off to sell my wares at the Artist Market tomorrow. I’ll pop back later this week to show you some of my latest canvas paintings.
Happy New Year! 🙂 Not everyone has their own diva! Lovely
Happy New Year Kerryanne. You daughter is so beautiful. And that hair ~ I know everyone must wish they had it as much as I do. Mine is bone straight but we always want what we didn’t get. LOL.
I love, love, love the painting you did for her. Lucky girl to have such a talented Mom.
Hugs…Tracy 🙂
Your daughter is gorgeous…Well both of them are!
As for lists…Yep I too am a die hard list maker!
I make ambitons more so than resolutions.

Hi Kerryanne,
Happy new Year. Your daughter makes the perfect muse. Your painting is lovely as is the sentiment.
The bus is great too, bet there’s an interesting story behind its creation 😉

Hi Kerryanne , happy new year ! Can’t wait to hear how you do at the markets , I’ll bet you sell out !
Oh you’re so cool and clever. lol re the diva and the hair straightener, how i can relate hehe! I have 2 of them as i think you do as well ! Do you ever think your darling was born in the wrong era? I just lOVE that long red curly hair and can imagine her like a china doll from Victorian times. She would be most unimpressed by that i am sure! Love the postive vibe and i am with you there 100%, lets keep it going, Mel xxx
Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous!! I so agree with you about the decorations down and a clean out, did that yesterday too…ready to start on the adventure that is 2010. Hi Kerryanne,
I don’t make new Years resolutions either, bit old to be starting that.
I do like your idea of a Positive Statement “Always follow your dreams”
Ah, I always suspected your inspiration came from the two most beautiful girls in your life!
Looking forward to seeing your creative brushes at work in 2010
Warm hugs,
Anna
Wishing you a Happy New Year
Thankyou for your friendship – not just in 2009 but ALWAYS!!
My New Year’s resolution is to take things as they come and be Happy, I feel a bit burnt out this year, nicely so though, as in content and relaxed.
lots of love ~ Gail
Happy New Year Kerryanne!….Cheers!!!
No wonder you use those gorgeous girls of yours as muse’s for your work. How beautiful & carefree do they look.
Your art work for Jess is just amazing, your talents knows no boundries. Or as my Jess would say ‘Oh mum, that’s AWESOME!’
I wish you the absolute best for 2010 & thank you for your friendship. I look forward to someday getting up your way & hopefully meeting you face to face…..it’s one of my goals this year to get out & ‘meet’ my blogging friends!
