It’s the simple things in life that give us the greatest pleasure. . . so today I am sharing some simple, quick and easy ideas for Christmas decorating.
This is my entrance hall table. . . simple red, white and silver theme. The hanging white stars are clay tags, which I gave a tutorial for here in Simply Christmas last year. This is a fun project for the kids to help out with too. All you need is some air dry clay and cookie cutters!
What about jazzing up some cushion covers for the festive season.
Here are several examples from my own home – a stencilled reindeer burlap cushion cover and handwritten sharpie pen covers.
For the reindeer cushion I simply used a reindeer design I liked from a Christmas card.
I traced the design onto a piece of old x-ray and cut out with a sharp craft knife. Using some white fabric paint I stencilled the design several times across the cushion.
Don’t we all love the sharpie pen cushion covers – super easy!! Create a word in a fancy font on your computer and print out. Put the print-out on a light box and trace the word onto calico/muslin using a black permanent marker. Yes. . . it’s that easy.
Short on time. . .
. . . whip into the nearest supermarket, load up with red and white candy and display with generosity around your home.
See. . . it’s pretty easy to spread the Christmas spirit throughout your home with a few handmade touches!
Here’s one final handmade project for today. . .
Click here to download a Santa wish list for the kids to colour. . . or maybe it’s just for your to leave lying around for Santa to see!!

Thanks for the Santa wish list, printing it out now and going to use the air dry clay technique as one of the childrens treats in their advent calender…wow so sorted!

I just love the little hall table. Those are so difficult to find. I really am enjoying getting your posts in my email. Thank you so much.
I’m loving this so far! I just love the entry look! I need to get mine changed over yet. *sigh!* I do think I need to make some of those pillows too – YES, all of them!
Thanks for playing the “cool” Christmas music while we browse. It makes the season pop! Love your decorating ideas, especially the info on the cushions. Thanks for sharing!

Great ideas, Kerryanne! What font did you use for the pillows? I just love it! And are you saying that Sharpie’s are truly permanent on fabric….? Even after washing…? How wonderful THAT would be! 🙂

Muchas gracias por compartir,te deseo Felices fiestas.
Absolutely loved the Christmas inspired cushions. It’s a great idea. I once tried this on a box but I got the paint outside the area of the design 🙁
in love w/your pillows!!!! ooxx, tracie
Thank you for sharing how you added script to your pillows… can’t believe it’s really that easy (think I’ve been trying to make it hard) I also loved the red and white candy on display … a must do! Thank you! Thank You!
Boy don’t I feel silly. All this time I’ve been fretting with ideas for putting beautiful words onto the muslin tablecloth I’m making and here you are with the simple, no fuss, not chemicals, no stressing out with an exacto blade solution to doing just that.
A light box and a sharpie.
I feel positively silly now. Thank you for pointing out the obvious solution I should have seen right from the get go. *facepalm* I love the cushion idea and I think I’ll have to do something similar to match the tablecloth in the next room if I have enough muslin left. Thanks so much for the idea!!
Such lovely inspiration, Kerryanne! I like the simplicity of the mostly white environment, with splashes of lively red and shimmery silver. 😉

Have a great week!!
I’ve had several requests for the name of the font I used for the cushions – it is an adaption of Mutlu.
Like the pillows very much but am especially excited about using x-ray film as a stencil. Thanks for the idea. Jo @ Let’s Face the Music
