‘Angel Wings’ are said to symbolize Innocence, Virtue, Purity, Peace and Love . . . all beautiful things.
And if you are Christian in faith. . . then you know Angels were quite instrumental in the birth of Jesus Christ and hence, play an important role in Christmas celebrations and festivities.
This year I made a small set of wings that I could use in my Christmas decorating. . . but really, they could be out all year!
In my Simply Christmas magazine there was a step-by-step tutorial for making the Angel wings.
Did you get your free copy of the magazine?
If you missed it. . . you can pop over HERE to read it.
So here’s how I made my wings. . .
Supplies:
Set of Tilda Angel Wings,
White tulle,
White silk ribbon,
Rhinestone button,
Small strip of cardboard,
All Purpose Glue.
1. Cut the cardboard to measure 1 cm high by 9cm wide.
Attach a hanger made from white silk ribbon to the centre of the cardboard strip and glue in place to secure.
2. Attach the Tilda Angel Wings to the cardboard strip with All Purpose Glue.
Make a bow from a strip of tulle and glue to the back of wings with most of the bow showing above the wings.
3. Cut two strips of silk ribbon and make a double bow. Glue to the centre of the wings.
4. Attach a pretty rhinestone button to the centre of ribbon bows using glue.
My Angel wings have moved around quite a bit since I made them. . . . they just seem to fit in with so many different vignettes.
Now I’m thinking they would be the perfect addition to the wrapping of a very special Christmas gift. . .
Don’t you agree?
Added 27/11: I no longer have the angel wings in stock. They are made by Panduro Hobby in the UK and can be purchased online here.
I’ll be sharing this project at this week’s link parties and with these friends: French Country Cottage, The Vintage Farmhouse, 36th Avenue, Clean and Scentsible, Live Laugh Rowe, The DIY Dreamer, Transformation Thursday, At The Picket Fence, Nifty Thrifty Sunday.
In other news. . . I’m guest posting somewhere special later today so I’ll be back later today to let you know all about it.
Hugs ~ Kerryanne
I have wanted to make these ever since seeing them in your magazine. But I have looked and looked thru your site and cant find those Tilda wings anywhere. What am I doing wrong?
Absolutely beautiful wings! By the way, thanks for organizer for Christmas again, this really helps me! 🙂
Oh these wings are just beautiful Kerryanne. They certainly deserve to ‘flit’ around the house all year long.

Kerryanne, these wings are just beautiful. I must now try these too!! Thank-you for sharing them with us.
What a cute and adorable idea. I might just have to give this a try. I would love for you to add this to our Pin It Wednesday Party.
This is so beautiful Where can I buy the wings
Hi Linda, a link to where you can buy the wings is in the post 🙂
I’ve spent almost two hours looking on-line for those angel wings! And, I’ve found nothing!!!! I could order, as you showed, but don’t know what to do about paying in “pounds” rather than US money. Any other suggestions? HELP, PLEASE! I want to make them to put on my recently deceased Mother’s Angel Christmas tree to represent her and my very recently deceased brother! HELP!!!! Thanks – the angels are gorgeous!
Hi Charlyne,
I’m in Australia, not the US and when you order online your currency is converted for you by your credit card company. That being said, I don’t actually have any wings in stock at the moment. The link to my shop is on the post, by the way, or you can enter my shop from the navigation bar at the top of my blog.
Merry Christmas.
So beautiful!!
I love all your creations! I just tried to go to your Simply Christmas magazine and it was no longer available. I know I must be REALLY LATE IN TRYING TO GET IT! Do you have anything similar or do you still have the magazine file to repost it? I’m new to all this info on the web but simply love it! Thanks for your time and consideration! Again, you are a fabulous designer!
Hi Joan, I’m afraid that is from 2011 and long gone. If you go to my Magazine page on my blog (in the navigation bar at the top) there are free Simply Shabbilicious magazines and several Christmas ones. Enjoy!!
