Here’s a peek at what’s on the work table in my craft room this week.
Three gorgeous foxie ladies…
This pattern is of course a lovely Tilda pattern…
But as you know, I suck at following patterns.
I go off on tangents and like to add my own spin to things!
I made these 3 foxes from unbleached calico (muslin), following the pattern in the book.
I ummed and ahhed…. and even asked your advise last week on whether I should tea stain or paint the bodies.
To me they just didn’t look like foxes without a little golden colour.

So I started by dabbing on a wash of DecoArt Americana Honey Brown.
As you can see, I didn’t paint their whole bodies because they were going to be clothed. The wash was mostly water, with an ink like consistency. I used a foam sponge brush to gently dab the watery colour on, leaving the muzzle unpainted.
A wash of Lamp Black was added on their extremities and inside their ears, which I thought made them more fox like.
This is the Tilda book that the fox pattern is in… Fairy Tale Wonderland.
You can pick Fairy Tale Wonderland up at Book Depository and Amazon.
I’ve made most of the patterns from this book and if you like the whimscial world of Tilda, this really is one of the must have books.
I dressed my foxie ladies in pretty fabrics from the Tilda Happiness is Homemade collection and this little miss above has a dress made from pale pink linen.
They’re definitely a bit cute and I look forward to finding a place for them in my creative space.
Hopefully I’ll also get them set up for a pretty photo shoot later this week.
Happy crafting my friends,
♥

Cute as can be!

I love your foxes. I cannot successfully make Tilda angels or animals. They turn out just awful! It the stuffed arms and legs that defeat me.

Oh Kerryanne, these Foxy Ladies are to cute! Did you use the same pattern for your reindeer? I love the details of the Foxy Ladies. I never thought about using paint for details I’ve always sewn on the details. That what I like about your blog I always come away with a great idea or two.
xoxo Jo

Hi Joanne, no they are different patterns and different Tilda books too. Both are very simple to make though. I’m so glad you are enjoying my blog and leave feeling inspired.
Merry Christmas xxx

Did you make the ears bigger because yours look bigger than the pattern? xx
Kerryanne says
Angie, I can’t remember if I enlarged them or not. I always play around with patterns and make them my own. It may also be that I painted my ears, making them look more dimensional. So not sure on this one…. sorry xx
