Hi creative friends,
A crafter asked me an interesting question on my Instagram stories this week and I decided to answer it here.
Tracey asked “what comes first when designing a kit… the colour palette or the theme?”
To be honest, it does vary with each kit for me, but for this month’s new kit the colour palette came first.
These colours felt like the warm palette of late summer days… before the crispness of fall descends.
The colours are muted and more earthy, and perfectly shabby.
I started by designing some of the papers and elements, before deciding on the theme.
The Forever Friends Digital Kit
I designed this kit to celebrate beautiful friendships that are such an integral part of our lives.
I wanted it to be pretty and feminine…. filled with roses and girly favourites.
When I was planning the kit I was thinking about happy mail, gift giving, cards and journals for friends.
There are over 90 fussy cut elements to decorate your projects with and lots of journal making elements.
There is an array of pretty friendship quote cards, as well as blank cards for you to write on.
Plus, lots of tags, cards and postcards.
I had such great feedback on the clusters last month, so I’ve included two more this month.
The paper collection has 16 pretty coordinating craft papers and decorative papers in two sizes; full page and journal (5″ x 7″) size.
This palette will mix easily with tea and coffee stained papers or blush avocado dyed papers.
I have a post here –> on dyeing with avocados.
