A little over four years ago our family of four lived in Australia’s second biggest city.
Life was busy. . . really busy!!
Mark worked long hours, often working away from home for days at a time. More often than not we felt like we were on a merry-go-round and picking up speed. It wasn’t the life we really wanted.
Then one day we had that ‘light bulb’ moment. . .
That moment when you know that something has to change. . . and it did.
We followed our dreams.
For us, our dream was to live by the sea and live a simplified life.
So we left the city behind and moved 1200 kilometres away to a place that was familiar to us. A place where my family lived, where I had visited all my life. . . a place that felt more like home.
Our new home was a country coastal town on the mid north coast of New South Wales, 5 hours north of Sydney. It’s a little slice of paradise with its year round temperate climate and beautiful beaches. We love the lay back relaxed life style. . . even when the population swells with summer holiday makers it still regales us with its quirky country charm.
Our girls adapted well to the beach culture and thrived on this healthier lifestyle, but Mark’s job again had him travelling and we could see the busyness returning.
So we turned to phase two of our sea change adventure.
We wanted our own business that would keep us all together, while maintaining our utopian lifestyle. We looked for quite awhile and just when we thought we’d never find the right opportunity, along it came.
It’s been a crazy couple of months while we made the transition, but yesterday we celebrated our new venture as we became the new owner/managers of Shelly Beach Resort.
Set on an acre of lush tropical rain forest, our small family orientated resort is situated opposite Shelly Beach in Port Macquarie. With 19 self contained 2 storey townhouses, pool, spa, games room and tennis court, it is a delight for family vacations.
You can check it our HERE and we’d love for you to like us on Facebook.
Now that we are settled in and we are finding our feet in our new positions here, I can return to my business and blogging. I’ve really missed all my ‘shabbilicious’ friends and look forward to catching up with what everyone has been doing.
There’s lots happening for Shabby Art Boutique too with Christmas just around the corner. I have a new issue of Simply Shabbilicious magazine – the bumper Christmas issue to get finished and I’ll be finalising all the prep for my annual Simply Christmas event which starts on November 1st.
Thank you to everyone who entered the Simply Shabbilicious magazine giveaway last week. I’m delighted to be sending the magazine and some shabbilicious goodies to the winner. . .

I am so excited for you!! We did the same thing 20+ years ago. Just moved to a place we’d never been, left of adult kids and grandkids behind and love where we live now. I admire you for doing it, sugar! It took a lot of thought, commitment, adventure and love of family to do this. Congratulations!

I would love to live in a place with mild temps all year around. I hate Winter!!!!
Wishing you much success!

P.S. I rec’vd my book last week and I LOVE it!
Thank you Elizabeth. I have to admit that we are totally spoilt by our year round warm weather. I don’t think I’d survive in a cold climate anymore, so I don’t blame you for hating winter…. although I’d like to just once have a white or winter Christmas. 🙂
Congratulations Kerryanne! What a wonderful move for your family!! It looks beautiful.
Big hugs to you,
Jamie @ [email protected]
Thank you Jamie. It feels so right and we are loving it, so hopefully a good lifestyle change.
