I had so much fun with my faux patchwork shabby hearts a few weeks ago, I decided to make a few more… with a festive touch.
So I came up with these adorable shabby stars and trees.
I think they’d make great gift tags or tree ornaments.
Or maybe… just hanging about with your Christmas décor.
They are surprisingly simple to make and if you love the look of patchwork, but don’t have time to make the real thing…. I think you’ll love this shabby project.
You are only limited by your fabric choices!!
The full tutorial for making faux patchwork shapes can be seen HERE
What I particularly love about this project is that it is not meant to be perfect.
It’s the little imperfections that gives these shapes their character.
[Pin for later]
To make the star and tree template, I simply drew the shapes freehand. Mine are approximately 10 cm high (4 inches).
The trees I made with strips of irregular sized fabric and the stars with randomly cut squares and rectangles.
Nothing was measured in this project… all fabric pieces were cut freehand.
Happy crafting
♥

Thank you Debbie…. and that’s why I love the faux patchwork; of course it is not as lovely as the real thing, but it does have a lot of shabby charm. 🙂

Can’t say enuf nice things about your soft and sweet stars, tree, etc. They are awesome KerriAnne. How I wish I had time to make everything I see and love but think I’m going to save these for after holidays and maybe make some for Valentines day if I’ve recovered enuf by then. Sure hope so.
Will be having my right shoulder replaced on Dec. 7th. so my crafting adventures for holidays will be cut short, just have this month to work on things. Took me while to be able to do crafting after my knee replacements but have no idea how long shoulder recovery will be, surgeon said won’t have to replace rotator cuff which helps with recovery. Sure hope so, don’t like not being able to take care of myself for any length of time.
Love colors and embellishments you used on your hearts, etc. they’re all quite fetching to see and I would think have, make great gifts. So I’ll make a goal to get better so I can make them for Valentines Day. I have lots of bits and bobs in my stashes so will be fun to drag them all out and make mess in sewing room. Something positive to look forward to.
Enjoy your blog and projects so much. Happy daze dear lady.

I hope everything goes well with your surgery JaneEllen. I hope you make a quick recovery and you can be making your shabby hearts for Valentine’s Day. 🙂

These are so pretty Kerryanne. I love the soft colours of your fabrics.
I have a few more fabric decorations for this year but have gone with some red tartan to add to my red/cream checks from last year.

Love, love, love your idea. I saw it on Instagram and had to pop on over! My sister is planning a pink Christmas, she will appreciate the inspiration. I am red junkie, the patchwork is dreamy and I will be making ornaments, as well. Off to pin your pretty creations! Thank you so much.
Kerryanne says
Thanks Kim. I’ve got another project coming up soon that is similar but in Christmas reds…. I think you’ll like that one 🙂
