At this time of year everyone enjoys a quick and easy DIY project…
This one is not only inexpensive, but can be made within a matter of minutes,
And has the added bonus of being suitable to give as a handmade gift.
I’ve long been a fan of using essential oils in my home… I use them to make many different products for therapeutic, room scenting and cleaning.
I’m always on the lookout for new ways to use my essential oils, so when I learned that I could use pumice stone as an aroma stone, I had to give it a try.
You’ve no doubt seen pumice stones used for sanding feet and have probably even a few over the years.
Pumice stones are actually formed by frothy volcanic lava that solidifies. They are very porous, making them the perfect stone to hold the scent from essential oils.
Pumice stones can be purchased very cheaply from anywhere beauty products are sold. I picked this one up for a couple of dollars at a discount store.
To scent them, use 6 – 10 drops of your favourite essential oil. I suggest starting with just a few drops and building it up slowly, until you are happy with the strength.
Aroma stones can be used to freshen drawers, cupboards, storage rooms, living areas and even in cars and caravans.
I hung one in my cupboard inside a muslin bag, but this pumice stone that I purchased recently has a hole in the top, which means I can hang it up with a ribbon or string or directly onto a hook.
I’ve shown it here laying on one of my faux patchwork hearts, so my table surface is protected from the abrasive quality of the pumice stone.
I think this would make a lovely gift for a female relative or friend… a faux patchwork heart, aroma stone and a bottle of essential oil.

If you give this project a try, please let me know what you think.
Do you have a favourite blend of essential oils to use?
Happy crafting,
Kerryanne
