Hi creative friends,
For the past seven years, my craft room walls have been painted aqua.
I chose that colour originally because it felt calm and peaceful… and it really was.
It became the backdrop to countless creative hours, late nights, new collections, and so many moments of quiet joy.
As I look ahead to 2026, my creative space is growing… literally. I’ll be expanding into an adjoining room that’s already painted pink, and that felt like a gentle nudge to pause, refresh, and reimagine how my workspace could support me in this next chapter.
So, after much thought (and quite a few paint samples), I made the decision to repaint the entire room in the softest pastel pink.

All of my furnishings remain white, which keeps everything feeling light and uncluttered, but the pink has changed the mood entirely.
It feels tranquil, feminine, and softly comforting… a space that wraps around me rather than distracts me.

A Room That Works Hard (and Feels Lovely)
I work in this space full time, so it needs to function beautifully as well as feel inspiring.
My IKEA Kallax shelving units continue to be the best organisational system I’ve ever used in a creative space.
I truly don’t waste an inch. Every box is labelled, and inside each one things are stored thoughtfully… lace and ribbons wrapped on boards so I can see them at a glance, buttons sorted into individual containers, and supplies grouped in ways that make sense to how I work.

In the centre of the room are my large work tables, and tucked underneath are IKEA Helmer units on castors.
These hold all the things I reach for constantly… inks, punches, glitters, embellishments… so I can grab what I need without even leaving my chair.
All of my painting supplies are kept on two IKRA RASKOG trolleys that can be wheeled over to the work desk when needed.

In one corner, I’ve created a small sewing nook with its own table, allowing me to set up multiple workstations at once.
I love being able to move between painting, crafting, and sewing without having to pack everything away mid-flow.

Soft Light & Shabby Pretties
One of my favourite details is the string of fairy lights that runs around the top of the walls.
In the evenings, they cast the softest warm glow and completely change the feeling of the room.
It’s gentle and calming… the kind of light that makes you want to linger a little longer.

The tops of my storage units are home to a mix of practical supplies and the “shabby pretties” that make my heart sing.
These little vignettes change with the seasons and reflect whatever I’m currently working on.
They’re not there for perfection… they’re there because they inspire me.
ADDED: In answer to your questions on Facebook and Instagram:
- The wall colour is Fairy Wings Quarter by Dulux.
- The desk mat on my worktable is from my Shabby Art Co store and available world wide.
- The wood spools and spool holder were a purchase from Tilda (Norway) about 10 years ago. Sadly, they are no longer available.
- The floral storage multi drawer unit (25 small boxes) was made with a purchased DIY box set and papers from my Craft Room membership, August kit Cherished Memories.

About the “Too Perfect” Question
I often hear people say that my craft room looks staged or too perfect… that it doesn’t look like a real working space.
The truth is… it absolutely gets messy.
When I’m painting, things tend to stay fairly neat. But when I’m crafting or sewing, the mess is very real… especially on the floor.
Paper scraps have a way of multiplying when I’m in the middle of a project.

What is different about my space is that I clean it up at the end of every day.
That habit comes from my younger years working in professional art studios. When you share a space with other artists, you’re expected to leave it safe, tidy, and ready for the next day. No one wants to arrive at work and walk into chaos.
That mindset has stayed with me.

I know messiness is deeply personal. For some people, it sparks creativity and unconventional thinking.
For me, it does the opposite. If I can’t find things, I lose focus and feel frustrated.
I love getting messy during the creative process… and then restoring order once I’m done.
I often leave workstations set up if I’m continuing a project the next day, but I always put away what I don’t need and at the very least clear the floor.
I don’t want to start my day wading through waist-high paper clutter.

Ready for 2026
After spending a few weeks repainting, reorganising, and thoughtfully culling what I no longer need, I feel incredibly refreshed.
This space feels calm, purposeful, and aligned with how I want to work going forward.
It’s not about perfection… it’s about creating an environment that supports creativity, focus, and joy.
I’m so looking forward to sharing this space with you and I hope it reminds you that your creative space doesn’t need to look like anyone else’s… it just needs to feel right for you.
Thank you for visiting my craft room!
I look forward to sharing the other half of my craft room with you soon.
Happy crafting,
Hugs

Kerryanne,
OMG!! This is stunning…Since my husband passed away almost 2 years ago, I am been on a bit of a lull when it comes to crafting and my Craft Room has become a catch all for all that I do not want to deal with at the moment…One of my Intentions for this year is to clean, straighten, purge and re-organize that room…I need to go through a ton of craft supplies and seriously look at what I intend to use and then pass on what I do not…And then re-organize everything that is left…You have given me so much inspiration here with your beautiful space…Thank you!! I hope you enjoy your weekend!!
Hugs,
Deb

Hello
It’s so beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing. Looking at your craft room feels so calm and peaceful. The soft colours and fairy lights make it magical! Soothing for the eyes and the soul.
May 2026 be a year of joy and peace for you.
Thank you so much Paula. I’m glad my room speaks to your heart too.Happy New Year ♥
What a beautiful and peaceful room. I’m not sure life would be able to drag me away if I had a craft room so soul-hugging! I have a small craft room that serves three purposes (storage, pantry and craft) so there’s very little room to decorate, but I have surrounded myself with beautiful things that are functional, such as decorative boxes to organize laces and things, and some that are just pretty to look at, like a lace fan thumbtacked on the wall, because we’re allowed to!
Happy Crafting!
Your room sounds perfect too, Jennifer.
May it bring you lots of happiness ♥

You have created a craft room created in dreams 🩷. Thank you for sharing 🩷
Thank you so much Betty. My craft room is my happy place for sure ♥
Its so beautiful, clean, and peaceful. What I would do to make this happen. I need a whole garage or space to throw things in to redo my craft room to then organize and build storage.
I noticed your stands for keeping ribbons organized. Are they handmade? I was thinking of making something myself using nuts, rods and building a wood frame drilling holes. It will be a nuisance to remove or add them but its better than them hiding in boxes. I made a wrapping paper rack that hangs over my door just like we had at the gift wrapping shop I worked at. Theirs scrolled on tracks which was useful.
Hi Rose, thank you for your kind words. The green ribbon stand is very old and no longer sold, but the large white ribbon rack in the back is something that you can still buy… perhaps try Amazon.I love having many of my ribbons that I use often on display and where I can see them, but I also have a box full of ribbon boards in my storage unit. I prefer to take the ribbons off the spools and wrap them around the boards. It takes up far less space and is easier to see at a glance what I have. I tend to store them in colours, and ribbon types, which works well for the large quantity I have. I hope this helps 🙂
